I was recently invited to a beta testing, and have posted a fairly lengthy (30 minutes) opinion on the comparison of LoL to another moba in the genre.

Let me know what you think, and please keep the flaming to a minimum, these are both moba games simply developed by 2 different companies, everyone is entitled to their opinion on them!

You cant compare both to 100%.

LoL is more beginner friendly and DotA2 more competetive oriented.

IF Valve drums up buisness, without failing customer support/bug fixing/etc. they can pretty easily rival Riot.

I agree with your definition of the games, LoL being noob friendly and DotA being highly competitive, however saying that you can't compare the games is a bit off. They are 2 highly similiar games in the same genre, if they can't be compared then what two games can be?

I do agree that Valve can easily rival Riot if they launch DotA 2 correctly, and with the way the beta is looking it seems like a very high possibility, but again as stated in the video all we can do is wait and see. It will be the gamers in the market that decide by their purchasing power and playtime decisions between the two games in the end, and unfortunately not simply which game is better quality.

Thanks for the response, and I hope you don't take anything I say offensively! :)

I'v watched only the first 10 minutes (I'm kinda tired and want to play something, so I'll watch the rest later), and I have to agree that Valve knows what competitive gamers want, like the replay system and the live matches

I enjoyed those 10 mins, really good job, you said the most important word in english sometimes too (****) and that made me happy since my theory says that you can use **** in every ****ing phrase xD

Meh I think you guys will be suprised how succesfull DotA 2 will be... I played the Beta and I still find it meh. DotA 2 will prob compete with LoL, but LoL keep staying at the top hands down.
If League of Legends is gay, then I am super****.

If they would made DotA 2 while LoL was in beta or something DotA would crush LoL. But now, that LoL has few ten million playerbase, LoL isn't going anywhere.

Things turn out best for the people who make the best out of the way things turn out.

True, LoL isnt just going to vanish, but we're talking about the Moba dominance.

While Dota is THE originator that led the genre, LoL is also weak when it comes down to competetive gameplay (not talking about amount/size of tournaments, but the game itself).

But LoL already built up a big fanbase (even without counting the Dota fans), therefore Riot still stumbles even over little edges.

Since Valve is WAY more experienced on that matter, they only need to support the game enough to break that "privileg to be first"-grip LoL helds at the Moba genre.

IMO regarding the title of the best, both games hold some possibilities.

I agree with you Darcurse, while there's no way to know which one will become the "dominant moba" I think we can all agree that Riot has huge competition in Valve, being a bigger company, a more experienced company, and a company with more means to it's disposal.

If DOTA 2 can add in smart casting, it will kill LoL.

I love league but honestly DOTA just has more to it folks...

Been playing the Beta for a week now and my mind is blown.
