First game: 3/0/17. 52 minutes long, only item I didn't get to build was the Void Staff. Lobbing a javelin every 3.6 seconds during a late-game teamfight was quite good (as were the 400+ heals I was dishing out every 6 seconds).
It seems to work so far, though we had a really bad early-game and had to stage a come-back. For some reason Teemo decided to lane with me and left Graves for solo-top, but we had Ahri and an un-killable jungle Dr. Mundo. Wards were pretty much unnecessary with all the traps and mushrooms scattered around.

I've played support Nidalee quite a few times, but I always find she has mana issues + she really needs to have pretty high AP to be effective. No CS = not enough gold to get the AP items you want.
But that said, she isn't a bad choice, and if you find a partner that it works well with, go for it.
Heck I played Veigar support a few times with my friend as Ashe and we were killing people left and right once we both hit level 6. If he can do it, I 100% believe Nidalee can do it.

You can't peddle papooses with a dancing monkey.
It is very viable, my friend plays it. And it is so much fun laning with him. Nidalee totally zones them out from the farm with her javelein. I realy like Nidalle support.
Not the worst support, but certainly not the best.
Basically comparable to a bad version of support Nunu.

Perhaps no one plays her support because she's great at both AD bruiser top and AP but I think it would be perfectly viable. I think her best partners would be Caitlyn (so many traps!), Corki (so much poke!), and Kog'Maw (infinite poke!).
I put together a rough build-order that I'm going to be playing around with.
My Build (for now):
Start with a Faerie Charm, 3 Sight Wards, and 2 Health Potions
Build your Philosopher's Stone on your first back (with Boots and more sight wards if you have the money for it)
Build your Boots
Next buy a Tear of the Goddess for more mana sustain (and a later Archangel's Staff)
Now get an Aegis of the Legion for its nice aura
Then finish your boots, turn them into Ionian Boots of Lucidity
And turn your stone into a Shurelya's Battlesong
End Support Items
At this point I think you would be most useful to your team to start building AP to increase the power of your poke and make your heals massive. So next you:
Turn your tear into an Archangel's Staff
Buy a Rabadon's Deathcap for a massive AP boost
And finish with a Void Staff so that your spears hurt that much more
Of course, you will need to farm some to buy your AP items, but once the laning phase is over I don't see a problem with taking some jungle camps and the occasional creep wave.
Your final stats will be:
Health: 2590
Mana: 2646
Speed: 382
Armor: 104
Magic Resist: 82.5
Health regen/5: 45.8
Mana regen/5: 70
Ability Power: 491
Cooldown Reduction: 40% (exactly)
Your masteries will be 9/0/21, and you will use AP runes (at least I will as I don't have my full set of support runes yet). Summoner spells will be Flash and Clairvoyance or Heal
Take Bushwhack / Pounce at level 1, then Primal Surge / Swipe at level 2 and Javelin Toss / Takedown at level 3. Surge and Javelin will be maxed together so you have good heals and strong javelins.
Thoughts on the viability of my build or support Nidalee in general?
