While it is nice that people want to do something with Chalice, it doesn't need upgrades. Especially something that helps out mages so much.

That's why it increases mana regen per 1% missing, to make it "nearly" impossible to be at 0 mana. I guess that would make sustain a little OP though.
I guess I could make it like .5 MR per 1%.

Swain come to mind. I wanted something special for the upgrade, which made it a little more viable for AP mids.
It was kind of an idea of having an item for mages that was a sort of "dueling" item. Quite a few AD characters have abilities that do this, and
Maw of Malmortius gives AD when your health is lower.
"It doesn't need upgrades" ... wat. It's bought by like maybe 5 characters in the game, and is only really gotten commonly on 1 that I know of,
Galio. Plus, it gives not that much MR, people will just buy
Banshee's Veil for their MR needs. Note that my price is VERY clost to
Banshee's Veil with the locket.

Either it stays similar to what it is, with a few tweaks, or here's another idea.
Remove the base AP, increase the base MR to 50, remove the MR increasing passive
(New)Unique passive: For every 1% mana missing you gain .75 AP
What this means, is that at 50% mana you gain 32.5 AP, which is weaker than it currently is, but is made up for with increased base MR. Also, I know some people are thinking "75 AP???", that only works with 0 mana, so how are you going to use AP when you don't have mana?
