Do you find it interesting winter that your journey between 1500-1700, took way longer compared to your journey between 1700-->2000?
I did not realize that. Now that is interesting...

I mention it, because I had a similar situation, I took a long time between 1400-1500s (6 months?). Then burst through 1500s to almost 1700 (all this month). I don't know. I guess either it's getting your confidence or getting some sort of deep knowledge of a select number of champs in different roles.

Thanks, guys! :)
Yea, I noticed that, too.
Looking back to how I played in 1.6k~, I can say that I definitely didn't try hard enough.
I just played some champs and won some games, so I thought I was pretty good. Well, I wasn't.
At some point though, I started maining the champs that I have a good win ratio with instead of playing champs that I thought were good at carrying. In 1.7k, I mainly played Shyvana and steamrolled through there pretty fast. At 1.8k, I felt that I couldn't carry as hard as before as Shyvana and went back to my old main Riven. After some struggle passing the 1.85k border, I decided to try real hard and managed to get from 1.8k to 1.9k in one day with Riven, that was after I saw that Evil Dice hit 1.9k and that gave me a real boost in motivation.
Solo Queue really is all about the champs you can carry with(All about the win ratio) and playing as good as you can in every game, because every single game counts. There is no surrender and no excuses, if you lose it's your fault. You could've destroyed your lane harder, you could've made less mistakes. There's always room for improvement. That's the mindset you need to climb.

Agreed, I noticed that I had higher win ratio with supports than with other champions.
So I decided to main Janna in ranked. Got myself from 1400 to 1800, 90% of the games I played Janna support.. Had some pretty slow climbing from 1700-1800 and eventually got bored with Janna and decided to go back to my main support in season 1, Taric, and skyrocketed from 1800-1910 without losing a single game..
Focus on your best champions is by far one of the best tips to reach higher elo..
Good point.
There were quite a few games that I lost badly because I wanted to play shyvanna top lane or something, and it just wasn't working. Or I played top lane without knowing counterpicking well enough for top-lane.
Seems like specializing in something is important for elo.
