Hello all,

I'm level 16 and now mainly playing with Akali and Anivia. But my question is: Should I buy runes for them or should I save for other champions? I've bought a couple more champions, but I really like to play with Akali and Anivia so I guess I could better save for some runes.

Save about 9000 something IP until level 20
Buy only tier 3 runes until all slots are full.
Fill in a slot every level afterwards.
That's what I'm doing and I'm level 21.

Oh, and buy runes suitable for your main champ they'll do more good in ranked i suppose?

Yeah buying runes before lvl 20 is useless. And if you want some more champs its up to you just play for fun runes are not a necessity after all but just a commodity (and there freaking expensive as well)

When you combiner lower tier runes you get a random higher tier rune. Totally random. It has nothing to do with what you put in. It's not an effective way to get runes that are useful.

My posts may be long. If this bothers you, don't read them.

I'd save for two basic rune pages, one for AP champions and one for AD champions. And then champions. I personally, have never changed my rune books since I filled them each that way, and haven't had any problems.

Akali needs a very specific set of runes if you want to play her optimally. You'll want to use runes and masteries to get both passives going at level one.

Anivia should work fine with any standard caster page.

I'd recommend saving for these:

9x Greater Mark of Attack Damage
9x Greater Mark of Magic Penetration
9x Greater Seal of Armor
9x Greater Glyph of Magic Resist
3x Greater Quintessence of Movement Speed

A couple alternatives and additions for later:

9x Greater Seal of Scaling Mana Regeneration
9x Greater Seal of Vitality
9x Greater Glyph of Scaling Ability Power
3x Greater Quintessence of Ability Power
3x Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage

Get those runes and you should be able to make pretty decent rune pages for any AP or AD champion. For akali, you'll probably be using some AD marks, armor or hp/lvl seals, MR glyphs and AP quints. For aniv, you'll want mpen marks, mp5/lvl seals, MR or AP/lvl glyphs and AP or MS quints.

After you have enough runes that you're comfortable using them for most champions, then you can start buying the ones you're good at and/or love playing. There's no harm in waiting, plus you'll be able to try a lot of different champions on rotation in the mean time, which will help you make a smart decision about whom to spend your IP on.
Thanks to Jovy for the sig!

Yes, I read that in a guide about the runes etc. But thanks anyways :)
