Agreed. Stacking items are generally sub-par in ranked games simply because you can't get kills as reliably with them and they also make you a primary focus target. Rabadon's Deathcap (as it is now called) should be build instead of Mejai's - probably after your Rageblade.

Well if you do the math, Mejai's gives a total of 180 AP at max stacks. The hat (with its current passive as of patch 108) gives about 201 and its passive also applies to any other AP item in your build. So if you're capable of farming that up early and think it'll make a difference early-mid game, grab it then, otherwise grab it a little later in the build. In my opinion 30% is very significant.

PRO Mejai:
1.Mejai's is still the highest gold/AP ratio in the game.
2.Considering you only need 5 stacks to make it worth the gold it is an easily rushable item.
3.20stacks gives 15%CDR
CON Megai:
1.targatable
2. most variable ap ratio. good and bad.
3. Very rarely will you gain 20 stacks.
4. CDR on akali? lol.
I actualy think this new item makes majai's irrelevent. + we save 1200 gold for much more statinable items.
So. Here is my suggest build.
Dorans
hextech revolver
boots/sheen
rageblade (sell dorans if needed)
Rabadon's deathcap
lich bane
gunblade
Rylai's
Focusing on an average game.
by the time i would normal get soulstealer we are about 19mins in. So just before mid game we should have started on rageblade in time for pushing towers.
Towards the end of mid game then we want to have accumulated 5500G to start endgame. (i.e. lich bane complete)
Does this sound reasonable? or is this too much of a push?

Exactly.
I'd recommend this item order:
Doran's
boots/sheen
Rylai's
Gunblade/Lich Bane
Some good item/Deathcap
However you look at it the deathcap is a lategame item and it only gives AP. There are quite a few bonuses that you'll need more than pure AP.

Well. Wasn't that last patch a big middle finger to the old meta game. No long are tanks the big boys on the fields of juistice.
with the inclusion of the hat and the hourglass. (err, yea... you know what i mean) The ballance of battle has shifted to AP nukers and other AP based characters.
How satisfying is it to watch you AP go up and up after buying that hat. 30%... i mean 30?!?! wow.
It's pretty awesome. (fu ap teemo. damn shrooms).
Enough chat.
My dilema is this.
A build for akali which i use is ->
dorans
hechtech revolver
sheen/boots
soul stealer
rageblade
lich bane
hextech gunblade
rylais.
you can see what gets made into what.
Anyway. I've been tinkering around with this build and trying to work out how these new items could benafit; and in what way?
My build gears heavily towards having massive damage in early mid game to really push the enemy back during laning and skirmish phases. I wan't to be able to scale this damage the whole way through mid/late game aswell as keeping a good portion of survivability. Like the revolver does in early/ mid game.
Now, let's not have silly answers like... ZOMG?!?! AP AP AP
I'm trying to keep this build respectable enough for use in ELO.
so my question is this;
At what point should the bansky's hat (am i right?) be brought, if at all?
and atomic bombs are stopped with the off button... ^^
