I see what you're going for here, but I think you are going about it the wrong way. I think building Vlad as a tank is a bad idea, but if you are going to do it, you should go about it like this.


Sorcerer's Shoes or Mercury's Treads- Warmog's Armor- Rylai's Crystal Scepter- Liandry's Torment- then round it out with two of these items: Abyssal Mask or Void Staff or Frozen Heart or Randuin's Omen or Runic Bulwark or Warmog's Armor again. (Probably other items worth mentioning, but I didn't bother)

This build makes you nearly unkillable, and focuses on Liandry's Torment building a lot of defense and magic pen will focus on your base values and %Health damage while remaining almost unkillable. Having the aura and the magic pen/% health damage will let you do enough damage to force them to focus you.


Also, let me tell you a little something about Vlad's passive. You are getting next to no AP from your build.

You are only getting 66 AP from Rylai's, warmogs, sunfire cape, spirit visage, and randuin's. Not to mention, that you can't get all of those and deathcap. (would be 7 items, including boots)

Getting deathcap at the end of you build is very bad, because you won't benefit from the passive 25% AP increase whatsoever.



Also, please go through your guide and fix incredibly outdated parts. I mean, ffs, you still mention Heart of Gold and Force of Nature

Upvoted this guide. I got inspired by your guide and tried out Vlad as a tank on solo top.
During the game people kept on calling me a noob because of my build. (OMG VLAD NEED MOAR DAMAGE)
I did a build similar to yours, but with some minor adjustments (seemed better for how our team comp was).

Anyway...Ended the ranked game with most damage done, most damage taken and 20-5-16.
Then again this was in low Elo, but hey...it worked.

This seems actually quite interesting to me, this isn't the same as the other standard AP builds for vladimir.
Going to try it out right now actually, so let's see if it works out for me!

Didn't try this build but I'm curious about this... i think that warmog-spirit visage-thornmail-zhonya-force of nature will do even better then this... just saying, u can try that and see does it works better... :) but like on build anyway

Ok, early game this build is like: help me guys I have no dmg and can bearly hold my line. But midgame was like omg I got 4000 gold left (0/5/2 at that time). 27min after game startet I had 3/7/14 and except force of nature the whole build ready.
So you need good help in early but since you have gold like **** in mid game you just own by then.

Wow! This is the best guide I've seen in a long, long time. Just the idea is sooo awesome! Going for cash instead of AP is something noone would expect... I don't own Vlad, but this week he's free to play so I will give this build a go, but your wonderfull idea and thinking outside of the box is the thing thet will get you a +1 from me... Very refreshing build and I hope it'll work!!!

I got raped with this build, and I was fed early game (ashe).
I want to play vlad now

If you're going for early armor, I suggest you run 3 Greater Quintessence of Armor. This gives you +12 armor and it really helps if you're going against a physical damage user.
