Surf is pretty much the water flamethrower. hydro pump is more similar to fire blast. Ice Beam and Blizzard are the Ice versions, respectively.

Razor Leaf is good enough for npcs and is still one of the best grass type moves. Solar beam with sunny day is better, but you'll only learn it late in the game. you need to remember that grass pokemon are usually defensive, unlike fire and water types, so expect lower damage but higher survivability.

You guys are joking, right? At least in pokemon red/blue charizard was by far the worst of the 3. Fire+Flying gives him so many weaknesses pretty much anything can kill it. Charizard can learn thunder punch to counter water pokemon and some ground moves to counter rock, but I still find him very weak because you can never switch to him. Sure, charizard can fight against his own weaknesses, but if the opponent gets the first attack then charizard is pretty much ****ed. At least I would never rely on him. If it serves as consolation he's probably the best fire type, but fire types usually suck due to their weaknesses and the fact that their strengths can be covered by other pokemon.

Blastoise is OK, but there are simply better water pokemons. He can learn ice moves to fight grass and a ground move (forgot which one) to counter electric. However, he's simply outclassed by other pokemons.

Venusaur is one of the best grass types. Unlike charizard he doesn't have a **** ton of weaknesses, he only has 4 weaknesses because poison and grass types nullify 3 of them. He loses to exeggutor maybe ties with victreebell. He's really the only one of the three starter pokemons who is at the top of their types. I would still pick exeggutor over him though.

2 years ago I made a bet with a friend, this required me to extensively research what was the best pokemon team.

I'm interested canoas what IS the best pokemon team?

I just hope it won't include any uber tier or legendary pokemon. Not that i don't hate any of these pokemon, it's just that they are too OP.
Thanks to TinyStar for making me this awesome sig

Not in Gen III, it has 70 power there. Also, no burn.

Fire Blast is the best of them. Because of 5% better accuracy and chance to burn vs Hydro Pump and 15% better accuracy vs Blizzard.

It's a lot worse than Flamethrower.

That move is not in FireRed/LeafGreen.

I'm in no way implying this is the best team, but back when I was young I went to a Nintendo convention (to get myself a Mew because before cheat cartridges that was the only way to get her)

But they had a 3v3 tournament going on and I remember the winners team was Snorlax, Chansey and Rhydon (all legendaries were banned) it was a pretty beast setup due to Softboiled and Rest being amazing recovery moves.

How this holds up nowadays I have no idea but this was the original Red/Blue ^^

Yes it is. You can buy it in Celadon I believe it is called ( the city with the grass gym and where you find Eevee.

+rep me and you'll get good karma, wich means you won't be reincarnated into a rock! Isn't that awesome?

But yes this idea has been discussed more than Pam Anderson's tits in a plastic surgeons office.

You need to have the international pokedex (or w/e it's called) to have access to other Gen pokemons like Chansey,s evolution (w/e it's name it). You get the international pokedex after beating your Rival right after the Elite Four
