Dill, how long have you been into league? Were you here before Irelia got nerfed like 11 times?
She's not a pick up and instarape ATM imo, but oh my glob she used to be, and I really don't wanna go back to that ._.

she's still very strong. no need for a buff, THOUGH I WOULD LIKE IT IF RIOT DID SO.

however, a nerf will soon come not long after the buff.

It's not so much that Irelia is bad lategame. Its that burst assassin style characters arent in favor at all in the current lategame meta. How the hell are you going to kill their Ezreal with Guardian Angel when two tanks and their Sona is defending him? Same goes for Akali and Talon etc.

Trinity Force is a midgame item that speciallizes in burst every 2 seconds and benefits all melee burst assassins. Problem with Trinity Force is that you can get a Sheen procc when you first jump in on someone and then your damage is sort-of weak for a few seconds. During this time you greatly risk getting kited. Additionally, Sheen procc gets considerably smaller the more armor your opponent has. Sheen procc is pretty sh1t against tanks lategame.

Frozen Mallet Irelia is stronger lategame because it has more presence and utility outside of burst. With Frozen Mallet you arent that standard burst assassin and can actually protect your own carry aswell. Lategame its all about the AD carry, and if the teams teamfighting is played out correctly its all about how long the tankline survives. The team with the tanks with most presence and tankyness wins. This is why Dr. Mundo is so strong lategame, great presence with Infected Bonesaw without ANY offensive items.

Trinity Force doesnt give much tankyness or presence in a fight because its damage is pretty much ignorable late, and it wont slow for tons. Guardian Angel gives a big amount of presence though.


This is why Garen is so horrible lategame. He might have slight tankyness over some bruisers but his presence is 0. Carries can just ignore him. If he build IE+damage he dies fast as fk to the AD anyway, and he has absolutely no way of reaching to their AD carry if the enemy team plays the teamfight well.

i started playing at the time darius was released so i probably dont know about irelia raping face instantly, but from what ive seen shes harder to just pick up and play which is good, even when i tried her i couldnt do it right

Meh, you just gotta know how she works, and she's easy. It's a knowledge thing, not a skill thing, same as Kata :P

Easy to play, but you have to know how.

Another one which underrates Courage? Courage is the reason why Garen can stay with that build long enough alive. It gives you way more tankyness than for example Ragnarok and that for 6 seconds with a 12 seconds cooldown. It also gives you 30% CC reduction. It even gives you more defenses than Insanity Potion for that duration. And you know how hard Singed is to kill even with only his ultimate.

The only real defense item you need is Guardian Angel and the semi defense item Maw of Malmortius.

He still hardly has any presence. I said that he is tankier than most other bruisers because of Courage. Thing is his only gapcloser isnt enough for teamfights. No matter what build he goes he cant often make it to the AD carry if their team is protecting him. Lets say your run in alone, or even with anyone else like Nocturne etc. You might make it to the AD carry without being chainstunned but after your steroids are gone your just going to get kited. Courage only lasts for 6 seconds.

And an AD carry can still kill you quickly even if Courage is up. And same goes for Renekton after he has used his E he just gets kited lategame.
