Darius

really beats almost everyone in a 1v1 situation, susceptible to jungle ganks, but that puts alot of pressure on solo queue junglers

Nidalee

split push for days, solo queue stomp

Jayce

literally has everything in his kit, kind of ******ed

Lee Sin

hard stomp

^ Pretty damn true. and If your jungler is Maokai or someone who has a stupidly long range gap closer, you can win lane very very easily.

I'd also suggest teemo as a bruiser. If played smartly, he can kite and counter every solotop (except Yorick, and maybe Akali, after she gets Hextech Revolver). He can be built pretty tanky, especially if you follow Therainman's build and grab a Frozen Mallet + Mercury's Treads. Provides great split pushing power, good mobility, amazing map awareness*, and lastly reliable, sustained, and noticeable damage to squishies and tanks. Like most bruisers, he falls off around the 50+minute mark. Since most games don't last that long nowadays, you should have fun playing him.

Rumble beats a lot of toplaners, has great duo queue synergy with AoE champs such as tanky junglers ( Amumu being it's favorite), Sona, etc.

Darius and Jayce for the reasons stated previously, although both have a great "falling off" risk.

Shen for global presence, although he requires investment and is banned quite frequently.

Riven
Renekton

These are some of my favorites. Have a lot of survivability and mobility and aren't restricted by mana.

If you want to laneswap and go 2vs1 vs the carry lane, Dr. Mundo could be also viable in the lane. He can easily sustain through the damage thanks to high regen and base HP and post 6 nothing can kill him. He also is one of the best for last hitting under the turret.

For 2v1s, yes, but will he win a lane 1v1? Highly unlikely, and we're talking about ranked soloq, where things like laneswaps don't happen often. If an opponent plays smart, there's no way he can lose to Mundo. Jungle is where it's at, unluckily.

My suggestions for ranked: Malphite (if played well, usually doesn't lose lanes, but banned a lot), Irelia (no diving me, son), Jax (b/c snowball OP) and Darius (see Jax).

Those champions don't require a lot of commitment IMO and can turn the tides of the battle.

Yorick, Shen, Vladimir, etc. do it better. They also lane alot better than mundo in general. I'd keep mundo in the jungle. His abilities already cost health so it would be really punishing for him to face a 2v1 lane

Darius.

Not because he's a high snowball champ, but because he can make people go AFK in matches.
