All of our Scouts/Vets/Mods started out as regular users, many of them had top guides before they were promoted. In many cases that is WHY they were promoted. They posted quality guides, and they stuck around to support and improve them. Our best contributors and supporters often end up being promoted, in time :)
Or they're like me, and been around long enough that I could literally be considered a veteran of this site.
To stay on topic:
Have you read guides below the top rated? If you do you might find guides that actually aren't bad, but clearly lack something to make them "top of the list worthy".
Or you might find complete **** guides that got upvoted for no reason. What I'm trying to say is, lotta vets sit at the top, but like Matt said some got "Vetted" after their guide was already top of the list.

Yeah but the thing is that when at a Champ ( Example Riven ) the Guide is written by a Vet/Scout/Mod it got only at the Top 'cause he's a Scout[ Was only an example]. Those were NOT even a quarter of the highest rated Guides from vets/scouts/mods, I never would wanted to say that they are bad or something. but surely one or more of them are just upvoted 'cause they are Vets/scouts/mods, of course it's possible that they weren't before , but that doesn't make it valid especially because not everybody was'nt a Vet/scout/mod. In addition new guide writer don't have a big chance to get theirs at the top 'cause them are so High rated.

LuL, took a look at the top 5 riven guides. Only 2 good guides were from a Scout/Vet, hell the number 4 one from the Vet is IMO. The better one.
Then i looked at the ahri guides. All 5 top ones are pretty meeh but the nr. 1 guide written by a vet again proves to be the better.

Ye but the first is of a Scout so it's valid. And not every Vet can be on 1st place so ur Argument is invalid. Ye maybe is proves but some don't prove it.

I made the same argument at one point before I got "vetted". There are plenty of systems in place to promote guides from anyone. If a guide is actually worth it, it will get votes. Yes (as throat says) some guides are indeed a popularity contest. Rather; they got there because the user is popular. Does it necessarily make that guide "a bad guide" no.
We've discussed guides/voting on the vet forums numerous times. This site is meant to make it so anyone can write a guide, but sometimes that gets lost. View things how you want to view them, if you can create a better system then go for it.
I think most of the guides by vets are actually good. Are they the best? I don't know, I don't have time to peruse through 5 guides for each champ and decide if the one at the top is "the best".
Bottom line I used to feel the way you do/thought the same thing, I got over it.

You say on yourself that they got voted 'cause they are popular so it's largely true. I think I have no rights to create a better system ;). I also think that many guides of Vets are good and some of them maybe should get to the top but not so many , or even everyone.
