Upon reflection, I actually think that Thresh could easily be one of the best champion counters to blitz. Your ADC gets pulled, you toss your lantern on top of him as he is in the air from the bounce, and as soon as he lands he jumps straight back into your loving chain-wielding embrace with minimal damage, instead of ya know... Being dead if he has already burned flash. Also a great way to save flash if it IS up, in case the jungler comes by to say hello. Just all the possibilities on lantern toss... Its going to take anyone ALOT of practice to get to know all the different times its useful.

This is like day one stuff. come on man, keep up with the class. :p
Any guide that says top lane Thresh is best built as tanky AP is seriously a bad guide.
If authors had actually bothered to experiment instead of building the same items over and over again for 2 days then rushing out guides, they would know that he's actually a strong top laner with AD items and that his Q passive triple procs with Runaans.

hi embracing. yes i play ff14 now.
His kit is neat, much to my liking, but rather underwhelming.
While you can't play him on dmg thx to bruiser nerfs and his rather small range (and his mediocre scalings ofc), his CCs are... well they're not bad but IMO they're kinda lacking.
-His hook is alright, but even harder to land than Blitz Grab.
And definitely needs some hit-box fix.
-The depositioning of his Flay is meagre, to rly utilize it you need full CDR.
-And his ulti got a nice slow, but is way harder to position than Veigar's stun circle.
-Only the lamp is rather nice, both shield and retreat functioning...
Sadly, as mentioned earlier Thresh can only be effectively played as Tank, so you have to stay near the enemy not in a safe distance to him, but you can use it to pull your ADC forward in order to chase someone down.
tl;dr:
- Flay needs a knockback range buff.
- CD and/or ratios should be buffed a tiny bit on Hook + Flay.
- And definitely abandon that passive... wth? Most pathetic range in game but having dumped armor..?
Keep the soul harvest in order to get the AP and the +dmg on Q but instead of this armor mindtardnes add an effect that increases your next autoattack's range after using a spell or sth.

I agree, the CDs on flay and death sentence need tweaked, and DC needs tweaked in general (hard as hell to land) but i do like his passive the way it is... If anything I say give him back the mres scaling he started out with (although probably at a lesser rate... 130 mres at 12 minutes or so with no mres items is kinda OP). If they increased his attack range at all he would just be stupid OP. Either that or really weak, the rest of his scaling on abilities is pretty bad. He just needs a little fine tuning to work out the kinks and make him flow a bit easier.

I don't see me doing Runaan's on him tho. I like the idea of Gauntlet, but those CDs make it a bit "eh" IMO. As for what's been said, the only things I find annoying in him is Q delay, R range and he seems to walk slower than
