They're good for supporty CC junglers who don't really "need" the stats.
Maokai would be my prime-example of a jungler who goes great with it(not sure if it's worth it anymore after the nerf though). Spirit/Madred's+sightstone

Sightstone. You got then Maim, Butcher and Rend against monsters, which even scale with each other. But on
Nunu & Willump jungle, I would get it on top of all those items, because ward spam and map control is the key to jungle

Wards cost 75g each
The highest tier sight stone allows 3 "free" wards to be activated at all times, if you recall every once in a while.
The

The amount of money spend on that item purely for the wards is:
1550g - 950,4g (stats worth of health) = 599,6g
That amount of money equals:
599,6 / 75 = 7,99 wards
Since you can put down 3 at the time but also will keep each ward for the full duration (which is 3minutes), then you need to spend 7,99 minutes on warding to make it worth it.
Or: 23,97 minutes when you just keep 1 ward active at all times

The amount of gold spend purely on wards is:
1600g - 600g (armor) - 600g (attack damage) - 400g (lifesteal) = 0g
You even have a unique effect from this item that will increase your jungle speed aswell, making it even more cost effective.
This means you actually "get gold" from warding.
From the first minute you have this item, it will be worth its cost.
Of course, since there are AP junglers that cannot rely on

It's like getting a GP/5. Gives a bit of health and unlimited wards. I would get it if you get a decent lead, because then you can control the enemy jungle too which snowballs your lead and puts the enemy jungler further ahead/behind, respectively.
