@Searz: I think you use a colon there since the second part is an elaboration of the first
Oh, I see. Thanks.
I usually like using a semicolon in places where I feel that both a colon and a comma would work, like kind of a combination of the two, you know?

It's not silly! D:

I guess it's an Americanism. It basically means the same thing as "at first glance", except a (very tiny) bit more in depth (maybe). Just a way of indicating a first impression.

Semi colons are used to separate two separate sentences and merge them into one. You can't use a semi colon if you don't have two independent sentences. So yeah, that was improper :P
It confuses me greatly as to why you'd bother with this comment when it's been said twice already..

I laughed so hard during that video. As someone who doesn't watch that much anime I found the examples used in the video downright hilarious :D
I personally am very much against fanservice.
I want my escapism and porno kept separate.

It has been deleted, I wonder how weird it was to be deleted just after you linked it to us :P

There are some others that I might watch, as well, but I'm less sure I'll enjoy them.
I'd add to that RDG Red Data Girl, I feel like it's soemthing big.

Based on Searz's comment, I can only assume that the "fanservice" in the video was a little on the maybe-it's-actually-just-hentai side of things. (And maybe it was actually just hentai clips. Or Queen's Blade clips, hue hue.)
The real issue I have with fanservice in general is that artists/writers/whatevers tend to try to use it in the place of good plot, since anything will sell if you put boobs on it. (Right?) Too often its used as a cop-out because the artist/writer/whatever couldn't come up with something better to put in its place instead. Of course, I still end up watching too much anime with stupid blatant fanservice in it, because I tend to enjoy mediocre wish-fulfillment anime.

Or highschool of the dead :D
I'm pretty sure most of it is actual anime. There was no nudity.

Here's the thing; people don't objectively judge something when they take age into account, so saying that something was amazing for its time is to bias the comparison and inflate the value of what you're talking about.
(btw, does anybody know whether ^that's a correct use of a semicolon? I got very unsure about it)
You wanted a colon there. Semicolons only really have one required use, which is to separate list items when those list items have commas in them. Other than that, they can be used to replace periods in some cases where the two sentences are extremely closely related. But, honestly, the semicolon is mostly just a way of showing that you're a silly grammar nerd.
BAKA tell him how amazing the movies are and how excited you are for the Evangelion 3.0 Bluray to come out.
I mean, I'm waiting for 3.33, but waiting hasn't really bothered me. I'm significantly more excited about other anime (would it be weird to plug Tamako Market again?) at the moment.
The movies are only fun to watch, honestly, because I'm interested in how the director wants to tell the story now that he's not horribly depressed. Getting rid of a lot of the stuff like Shinji being a spineless *** for half the bloody series helps, too.
Just waitin on some new anime to watch now
The spring 2013 calendar is out. The version I found doesn't have dates on any of the anime yet, but its still usable. Calendar here. It's too big to post, even in a spoiler, so I just won't.
