So I've been picking up Kha'Zix again recently for top lane. I know he's a great mid, but playing him there doesn't fit my style. I like him quite a lot at top - easy to reset my passive with bushes, great burst, health sustain - except I've been having an issue with builds. Typically my full Kha'Zix build looks like this: (with runes and masteries)

greater mark of armor penetration/ Greater Seal of Armor/ Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist/ Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage
Masteries: 9/21/0
Muramana
Mercury's Treads/ Ninja Tabi
Black Cleaver
Bloodthirster
Last Whisper
Warmog's Armor

With the situational Maw of Malmortius and rarely Blade of the Ruined King. I think this is pretty typical of assassin builds, but the issue I have is with the buildup. I'm admittedly pretty awful at stacking Tear of the Goddess. I don't know why, but most of the time I don't get it fully stacked until 30 minutes into the game if I buy it around 10 minutes even though I feel like I'm spamming abilities when farming. I'm pretty sure that's an awful time taken to build up my Muramana. Because of this, I often have to rush Tear early to get it built up at a reasonable time.

Problem is though, I also often find that I need The Brutalizer/ Black Cleaver or even Last Whisper ASAP because top laners are being ****s and stacking massive armor. It works fine, but then I find that 40 minutes in I'm still carrying a Manamune which is pretty lame. I know Muramana is practically a core on Kha'Zix right now, but I'm wondering if it should be bought on top lane because I feel like I need armor pen early on to do any damage. What do you guys think? Am I just really bad at stacking Manamune or is there something else wrong with the way I build him?

your build is pretty good its sorta how i build him, you shouldnt be having trouble stacking tear if you spam Q and W all the time

then again i play him mid not top

This is the exact same way I build him myself as well.
Maybe the reason why they play Khazix mostly on mid is becasue he is against softer targets which he can burst down easely after a cetain point.
On top, he can be quite fearsome but he has plenty of counters and he can a hard time winning trades against tanky characters.
Usualy, building The Brutalizer early on after your Tear of the Godddsess is able to help out against early armor.
What I usualy follow is(without pots and stuff):

Item Sequence

Tear of the Goddess 400
The Brutalizer 1337
Bloodthirster 3400
Mercury's Treads 1100
Manamune 2900
Last Whisper 1450
Warmog's Armor 3100
Black Cleaver 3000
In this way, your tear should need like 150/50 more stacks to be upgraded, which is really easy to finish off and if you have a good game it could be ready in around ~25 mins.
After that you put Last Whisper on top of it reaching over 300 AD and you are ready to pentakill stuff.
This is the way I go most of the time. Hope it works for you as well :)

Are you using your w and e when you start to leave the fountain every time? If not, make sure you do so you can spam those and regen the mana immediately. I know what you mean though. I've been trying Kha'Zix and Jayce a lot recently and I struggle to get tear charged with both of them.

OKAY!

So I personally have been playing a TON of Kha'Zix, I actually started playing him top lane simply because of his bush control :3 But now I have moved onto mid as it better suits him.

Though, the biggest misconception I find is building Bloodthirster early.
I always thought it was the best way to go until I had a bit more fo a look around..

Turns out, and from experience I second this, that building:
Tear of the Goddess -> The Brutalizer -> Last Whisper
is just so mush stronger.
That is, if you max your 'w' first.
Side note, don't build Manamune until you have full stacks or it isn't worth the gold investment.

Mundo goes where he pleases.

And pleases, where he goes.

I'm not in the habit of spamming cooldowns because I used to play a lot of mana hungry top laners (J4, WW, Malph, etc.) so I had to learn mana management and using abilities sparingly. Probably the issue. I definitely do use Taste Their Fear to last hit but even then I'll only get Muramana around the 30 minute mark supposing I bought Tear it after my first recall.

Also, I find that once I have Manamune stacking isn't as difficult, since I like to split push a lot. The problem is that I really hate upgrading Tear before it's fully stacked instead of buying my other core items because in my opinion Manamune by itself is garbage. Rushing Manamune instead of BC, LW or BT feels awful, so I'm kind of at a loss for the order in which to build my items.

just spam your abilities more and see if you can get blue buff, if your mid laner or jungler needs it let them but if you can get it then get it youll get more mana regen and CDR to stack your tear faster

Taste Their Fear is 25 mana and once you get your Tear, you should be using Q to last hit every chance you get, even if you could have normally gotten it with an auto. Standard tournament play now is Tear->Brutalizer->Bloodthirster->Last Whisper, skipping the Brutalizer if you can get a very fast BF sword.

yeah pretty much this whenever Q is off cooldown you should be using it to charge your tear because of its mana cost
