Overheating laptop

Of course, this is partially personal opinion, but you should try prioritizing Character > Effects > Environment > Shadows. Try putting shadows on very low/blob settings, where there's just a round circle shadow around the characters. Because that takes like 0 power and looks considerably less weird than no shadows at all.
