I can possibly see it on
Sona or
Leona
Seems interesting, although I haven't tried it out myself. It would probably also have to factor in the enemy team as well. It seems like it would be more effective against stuff like
Lulu or
Vayne etc. stuff that relies heavily on autos early on as opposed to
Graves or
Tristana
Idk I'll try it out

Thanks for the Signature MissMaw!
Only one ward? Hm... If the enemy jungler can't gank much or will be forced to go mid/top I could see why it'd be an interesting pick but otherwise I am really afraid that 1 ward won't be enough at all.
I agree with Percy about one ward being very dangerous, but I have always thought
Doran's Shield would be an excellent starting item for a tanky support. It gives great stats for bottom lane and could the best choice if your planning on going all in early.

+Rep me if i'm useful!
Unless you plan on staying in the lane until ~minute 5, it's not a good idea IMO. Especially if the jungler on their team likes to gank - and if he knows you only have one ward be sure that he will (unless he's dumb, and let's be honest that's also quite likely). You always need dragon, tri and lane brush warded during lane phase and jus one ward won't help you at all so.. dunno. I surely wouldn't do it... Plus nowdays almost every support starts with a
Vision Ward so that's gonna suck for you too...

As a support main, I say no in general. There is one circumstance which I *MIGHT* do it and that's when I know we have a lane that will be pushed all the way to the tower by, for example, a
Caitlyn. Then, since we won't be able to push past tribush, much less river, one ward might be acceptable to guard against tower ganks and/or lane ganks. But even then, as a matter of preference, I probably wouldn't ever start 1 ward.

I'd rather use a runepage that gave me 34 armor at level one and start
Rejuvenation Bead + 2 sight wards +
Vision Ward + 2 pots (with explorer's ward and total biscuit ofc)...

Since the 3.8 patch, I've seen in a number of high elo games I've watched on streams supports starting with a Doran's Shield and 1 Ward. I've seen this as a possible recommendation of at least one Challenger player (Valkrin), and have noticed more than a few high elo players running this.
As you would expect, it seems most popular on aggressive supports like Leona, Blitz, and Thresh. I was just wondering if any support players have tried this out, and how it has worked out for you. I'm very skeptical of it - I just feel like I would lose so much ward control bot, and not sure the sustain from Doran's would really make up for not having any pots early.
Would love to hear if anyone has used this, and your thoughts on it. Thanks!
