This job is in child care with a school, so if I perform poorly or act like a ditz, it can very well spread to other schools, due to tight networking. It's not like I'm applying at Hungry Jacks. [/quote] Thanks for the advice! I was going to practise answering some fake questions but just couldn't work myself up to do it, eeeeeeh, panicking. I applied for five out of school hour care jobs (like, before school and after school daycare things) and got call backs straight away from two, so I'm nervous as! [quote=Bioalchemist]I put in around 80 applications before i got the job i am at now, and that is with a masters in biochemistry. the application/resume/hiring process for most decent sized companies is such a cluster f*ck. first thing you can't apply in person anymore really...you must do it online. than they take your online application/resume and put it through a word filter which looks for specific key words in your resume and erases all of them that do not contain these words...than once you make it through the computer your app/resume sits on HR's desk and they screen them and pass on what resumes/apps they think fit (subjective to what HR thinks given that they may have no knowledge about the position that is looking to be filled) and once it gets past them it goes to the hiring manager/the person looking to hire someone who than filters it based on what they want. oh and applying for spots out of the state you live? good luck. companies will only hire out of state as a last resort or if they are looking for a top tier position where there is a very small pool of potential candidates. the good news is that once you get a job in the field you want to be in it becomes much easier to get other jobs in that field...getting your foot in the door is the hardest part.[/quote]
