It's still on Hulu, MyRepublic. You can watch it there. Netflix seems to have largely ceded online anime watching to other platforms, however, so it wouldn't surprise me if they start removing things.

I've finished watching Claymore.

It fell off in the end. Overall It was decent though.

What I loved about it is the kinda classic art, some fight scenes, and the atmosphere as a whole.

What I neither liked nor disliked about it is the shonen theme it has (power levels, exaggerated auras, ranking based on power, etc). Sometimes I like watching it, sometimes I just don't feel like it :P

What I hated about it is the male lead character. He's so lame. He's weak, he's just crippling the female lead at some point, he's only relevant in a couple episodes, repeats the female lead's name 875 times an episode, and he takes the "cry me a river" expression to a whole new level.

Would I recommend it? Hmm, if you like purple and greenish uncensored boobies, blood, sword fights, sword skills, levels of power, and a lot of "So much power! It can't be!" scenes, then this anime is for you.

What I'll be watching next? Choose for me between those three:

  • Mahou Shojo Madoka Magica (inb4 Cuddles)

  • Deadman Wonderland

  • Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu (I've watched it years ago, forgot about it, but I know I liked it)

claymore didn't do it for me personally. felt it started fairly strong but tails off. not the worst...just not great anime imo.

yes i am quoting myself. guess we are on the same page with that one.

totally agree with the lead character. so annoying.

Heres a really good Oreimo amv I found. It does a pretty good job at portraying the show for what it is.

I've been reading some really good Chinese manhua recently.

I'm not sure of how I stumbled upon Feng Shen Ji (continued in Feng Shen Ji II), but boy am I glad I did.
It has a very interesting story based on Chinese mythology and let's just say that the art is kind of amazing. It's all color pages and the cover art is mindblowingly good. (the so-so quality scans really don't do it justice :( )
Have a look at some of the cover art

Overall this manhua is definitely good enough to go in my top 5 favorites of all time. It's a bit of a toss-up between this, Fullmetal Alchemist and possibly Koe No Katachi for my third place (after Berserk and Shingeki No Kyojin), but Koe No Katachi just has two chapters out currently, so it's hard to compare that to a series with over 2000 serialized pages and a series that already has ended. It has also been a while since I read Fullmetal Alchemist, so I might have to re-read that to better compare the two.

It was through Feng Shen Ji that I stumbled upon another gem. Wolf & Mary, it has the same author and artist as Feng Shen Ji (just one artist here though, there are two working on Feng Shen Ji).
It's a very unique black comedy. Some of the moments are just utterly hilarious.
Let me give you a small taste of the humor by quoting a comment from batoto:

Go with Madoka.
When so many people are calling it good it's bound to be at least decent.

The Deadman Wonderland manga is pretty decent(and the anime is likely the same), but it's honestly just lots of wasted potential in my opinion. So many cool ideas, but it's let down by the execution in my opinion..
I find myself enjoying these kinds of manga even less than truly bad manga, because I'm just disappointed all the time.

Don't watch Nogizaka. You're likely to be disappointed. Your view of it is likely clouded by the thick mist of nostalgia. Not to mention that it looks like **** and is set up to be a cringe-fest of bad cliches and terrible storytelling.

Okay I've watched the first 5 episodes of Madoka Magica.

Although the magical girl theme doesn't really appeal to me, I can tell it's a good anime just by how well it pulls off the sinister deep dramatic atmosphere in the middle of the cute and colorful scenes in a blink of an eye.

Aniplex and Shaft are involved in the production so the art/animation is top-notch as always.

I enjoyed Madoka Magica, especially how it worked in magic with scientific theories and how it managed to put across a great message.

On another note I just watched Clannad and Clannad after story and while I'm not one to get all emotional and **** from works of fiction (or anything really) that was some deep ****, I wouldn't recommend watfching it when depressed like I did though. It has a great meaning to it and has an excellent mix of romance, drama, comedy and tragedy and it had me with tears in my eyes (most of the last 6 episodes of after story), definitely worth the watch and episode 18 most likely the saddest thing I have ever watched.

On a creepier note the 'Big Dango Family' song (end credits first season) has pretty much the same tune as I remember from some really weird dreams I had in my childhood and by pretty much the same I mean the whole dynamics of the song and the different intensities from different parts pretty much all but the lyrics.

Finally, I have a question, if someone would be kind enough to answer: what is Gintama like? I've heard its pretty good but I've also heard it' kind of a stupid self-referencing comedy.
If I have helped in anyway at all a +rep will be appreciated lots
Thanks to LaCorpse, Hogopogo and JhoiJhoi for the amazing sigs
