I'm worried a bit now that overhype is the word.
I watched for a bit on and off hashinshin's stream and he SUCKED on Olaf every single time, while he carried extra ****ing hard on Jax and Irelia. He complained every single game that Olaf sucked balls.
Fine, his opinion and he can effectively suck playing him, but this is a Challenger level player. Here's to hoping people don't know how to cope with Olaf in lower tiers.
edit: he started Doran's Shield, got vamp scepter and Doran's Blade, then went for Tiamat, then Ninja Tabi, then finished Ravenous Hydra then went full tank with whatever he needed most.

Brok is really good on him, yea. Pretty much that and then tank items and you're golden. He doesn't get the cash flow he needs in the jungle unfortunately so, top lane really is the best bet.

yes, his Reckless Swing is basically asking for AD+AS, and i really don't think Ravenous Hydra while walking around at half HP is the answer. =)
@luizdeh: Like I said, nobody cares about hashinshin. No offense if you do though. :p
Back on topic, I have to agree that BotRK is the best offensive item on him. Been thinking of trying out Youmuu's Ghostblade as a second item on him, if fed; he likes everything it gives him and uses the crit better than like every other bruiser (aside from Gangplank).

Just saw a video where Voyboy said he thought Olaf was now good late gmae, he just is gonna struggle in lane against a lot of the common tops right now. Also, he thought he should be built as a Melee carry and not tank.

IDK if he's right about melee carry but I think he is definitely right about the part with struggling in lane.

Ad oriented Bruiser if you dominate and strong tank if you're equal or behind.
Otherwise if you rush with a strong AD build you'll end up focused.
Normally TF shouldn't be a bad choice either if you go for strong tank.
What I was wondering about is: If you go top against another melee, even with the buff on Reckless Swing, why not max Tough It Out first?
Given that it doesn't scale down it's CDR with each level, but IMO it seems to give you a greater edge in a tooth-to-tooth fight, duking it out with another melee.
Just care not getting bursted down and activate it when hitting ~50%.

For top lane, he's usable depending on the matchup, like most. But he is pretty good. I keep playing him like Old Olaf, and hitting W before I axe, but because there's only mana on his Q, it's not punishing really.
Overall, I really like the new Olaf.
