Dillbutt, it's an example.
We're not talking about how easy it is to implement the skins into the game. We're talking about why they should / shouldn't be implemented into the game...
No, Dil is the one who is making the valid counter-argument. People make analogies to highlight the similarities in situations, HOWEVER, it is perfectly valid to then point out the discrepancy in the examples which make the analogies completely pointless or ineffective.
By comparing the fact that real-life physical limited edition things (like a car or a cake) have a limit based on resources and manpower to create, whereas coding is simply copied, there is already a huge difference in distribution of limited edition products. A car will be limited by how long it takes to make and how much materials there are to create it. A cake has to be requisitioned every time by the bakery (but the fact of the matter is also that if you requisition for the same cake as someone else, chances are they'll make it for you anyway... take similar wedding cakes for example) and it takes time and effort and ingredients, which are also ultimately limited.
Coding (skins) do not share this disadvantage.
Mew was supposed to be a limited edition for Pokemon RBY, but it was brought back in consequent generations. Not a single person *****ed about it.
Understand me when I say that there is literally no basis of ground for ANYONE to be angry at Riot for making this decision. They have done nothing wrong practically (they make money, you get skin, win-win) and have done nothing wrong ethically.
The closest you can get to forming a cohesive argument of anger against them is that they went back on their word, or they are 'promise-breakers'. But that is ALL. So they changed their minds. SO WHAT? It's not as if just about everyone on the planet has changed their minds at one point or another.
What are people really angry about? They said they paid for the skins because they were limited edition. Now they are no longer going to be limited edition, SO YOU GET YOUR RP BACK AS COMPENSATION FOR THIS LOSS OF UNIQUENESS. So technically, you haven't paid for anything, so you've made ABSOLUTELY 0 LOSS and an ABSOLUTE REFUND. If anything, people are making gains from this. Seriously, the amount of entitlement that some people are expressing in this thread reminds me of MyBloodisBlack.
To be perfectly honest, even if Riot didn't refund the RP, it would still be perfectly valid for them to re-release the skins. A reminder that LoL is ultimately their product and they can do what they like with it. Sure, people don't have to like what they do and can ultimately decide the fate of their company by ceasing to play the game, causing them to go broke or whatever, but somehow, I really don't see that happening with this case. Why? BECAUSE PEOPLE WANT THEM TO RE-RELEASE THESE SKINS.
If you don't like what Riot has done considering that the large majority actually want this, then either deal with it or gtfo. Because this is what the community said they wanted.
So don't say **** like:
Quoted:
They are not thinking of the players tbh.
Players are getting refunded and new players get a chance to purchase previously unavailable skins. Sure, it's a money grab, but to say they're not thinking of players completely neglects that they are refunding people AND the fact that they community ASKED for this.
Great post. To me the real kicker is getting the RP refunded. I know enough about business law to know I know nothing about it, but that could've been a sticky issue had they not done the refund. Honestly there is more room for argument on complaining they don't account for TVM on the refunded RP.
Sirell said what I wanted to say in better words.
It reminds me of of when everyone QQ'd about the ME3 ending because Bioware "lied" about the scope of the ending. it wasn't actually bad, but people feel super entitled to anything a game dev company does/doesn't do.

K I think you're confusing me with Veng because I didn't say half of those things but if you're going to release something and saying it's limited edition and won't be sold after the initial period, why not stick to it? Also I thought the RP back was a return option but it's just free RP so I guess that makes it a bit better but still, I'm totally against this. I mean isn't this why we have legacy skins now? Legacy they said it could be resold, for these limited they said they won't, all I see is Riot wanting monies.
Also someone said we will never see the skins because people will buy them for champs they don't play but I think it will be more like they buy the skins on champs they don't play and then play those champs all the time just for the skin even if they suck with it
****, i think i quoted the wrong post lol, sorry xD

a possible better example is pre-order content in video games that you only get when you pre-order the game, say you get a special weapon in an FPS game for pre-ordering the game that no one else will get if they get the game after its released
but then the game company decides to later put it in as a DLC a few months later, you got the weapon for free and earlier but now these people get the weapon IF they decide to spend the extra money on that weapon
again the said weapon is just code in a video game so its not hurting anyone or making it less special that its being copied because there is no limited supply of it
