As with anything, pros and cons. As a business model, I don't really see the benefit. As for quality of ranked play, I guess there would be a small, almost unsubstantial increase in quality. I mean, just look at all the scrubs with skins. They pay for skins left and right, why wouldn't they pay the ranked fee?

I pay for the game and I am trying to improve. On the other hand, my Plat friend also doesn't pay for the game and is trying to improve. Money has nothing whatsoever to do with the issue.
Riot would make more money... you mean other than the fact that they're earning ****TONS already?

Secondly, the barrier for "good" ranked play is already decently high. You need more than just 2 runepages and quite a good pool of champions. That either limits your ranked experience to time invested in the game, or money. Both of which are fairly hard to get back.

You're wrong, which is why this suggestion wouldn't accomplish anything. You have to pour in a huge amount of time to get an account to level 30. It's not like trolls and ragers and afkers have like 20 accounts and just do whatever the hell they want because they're not afraid of getting banned. If their account gets banned they have to spend like a month getting a new account to 30 to play ranked again. I seriously doubt a monetary fee would stop anyone from trolling in ranked.

So people happily play the game for I'd say 50 or so hours to get to level 30, just to stop playing because a $10 fee is put in place? That's funny.
The amount of trolls found in ranked play is because it's an online game. Money isn't going to change the fact that you anonymously interact with people and there are no consequences for your actions.

I suddenly had this crazy idea.. I don't know if it's smart or not but I've been thinking about it.
What if Riot would charge €10-€15 to make your account eligible for ranked play?
IMO, the amount of trolls that we find in ranked play is caused by the fact that the game is free.. There is nothing to lose.. People don't necessarily want to be good at the game because it's a free game.
What if they made the entire game free but to play ranked you need to pay a certain amount of money.
I mean:
-It would drastically reduce the amount of trolls/afk..
-It would make people practice more and actually try to get better at the game because they paid for it.
-Riot would make more money so they can improve the game even more.
-There would be less kids in the game because some parents don't want to pay for videogames.
-I think most people that take ranked play serious would have no problem paying a small fee to play.
I don't know guys, we're all looking for a way to make the game less toxic.
