Been playing about a year, ranked for only a month or so. Main mid, I usually sup or top if that doesn't work out. I was initially placed in Silver III, did well, got promoted once, and was on like a 10 game winning streak. Made the mistake of playing a few ranked games drunk and that started a cycle of poor matchups, bad play on my end at times, and AFKs and trolls. Now I'm spiraling down through Silver IV and I wouldn't be surprised if I end up falling another tier at this rate.

My CS is the biggest hole in my game, and its compounded when my team isn't doing well. Otherwise, I feel like I'm in the twilight zone when I play lately. Besides the usual leavers and dc's, I've had other lanes clearly play roles they suck at. I see people do things that just blow my mind, I try to be constructive, and I get raged at. I go support to be safe but I can't carry terrible lanes from there.

This isn't meant to be an "I'm better than my mmr suggests" type deal. I just don't understand what causes the sense of your team being absolutely terrible while the other team is good, over and over again. I'm looking for advice to at the very least get back to where I was, because the quality of my teammates has dropped precipitously as I've fallen.

Thanks for any advice in advance.

Been there, Done that.

[1] You seem to have a fairly good grasp of where you are falling short. So work on those areas. maybe changing roles for a bit will help you out too. It might be rough for a while but after a bit you will get better and you will have better understanding of the game for changing roles.
I recommend Mid Lane. you are in an prime position to help out the other lanes, especially when you coordinate with your Jungler to swing 4v2s or 3v1s.

[2]Don't worry about the teammates so much. when you get to the threshold of "I should be better than this" like what it seems like you are now. once you start seeing how you can help your team succeed then that's when you are ready for the next level. until then work on helping yourself and just make yourself better

I was in a similar position like yours once, I went from Silver 1 to Silver 3 because I went on a hard tilt.

My advice would to relax and choose a day and grind out as many games as you possibly can. You only really improve by fighting constantly.

That feeling might come from actually knowing more about the game than your teammates. You notice mistakes more quickly which is the first step to improving and you're just having a bad spree and cannot put the things you know into practice (yet). (not saying this is your problem, but it could be)

(1) Don't play when you are feeling tired, upset, when you are in a super hot/dry room etc. All these things might make that you play worse than you should and that way you might lose games even though you know you (and because of that, your team) can do better. Eventually you will climb if you play in optimal circumstances. Also, take a break after every game ;-)

(2) Try to work on your mistakes, like Kazega mentioned. Every time you die, you should be questioning yourself what went wrong and what YOU (not your team) could have done better. After the game, sit down for a minute or two and think about these things and keep them in the back of your head going into the next game. That way, you can improve on your mistakes and carry yourself up.

The two easiest ways to climb from low silver are early game jungle pressure and a strong laning phase. People in silver usually don't ward enough and play more aggressively than they should with poor map vision. You should be able to snowball as a jungler pretty often. As a laner, if you can get 80% of the cs you'll probably win every laning phase. It's really important to be able to CS well; you're missing out on a lot of potential gold if you're missing farm.
Thanks to The_Nameless_Bard for the sig!

Psi is spot on. As a mid main, I'm able to constantly win games by snowballing off a strong laning phase. A friend who mains tanky tops has a harder time because he can't CS well and if he can't impact mid-game enough he can't carry.

If you can't lane well, learning the jungle and doing things low elo players don't expect helps everyone on your team. Like that Trick2g video where he camps Rengar and basically wins the game in like 5 minutes.

A nice tip I gave people when I was jungling low(er) elo was to let lanes push to their tower often (since they never buy wards) so it was a lot easier to gank and feed them kills, not to mention giving the other jungler a harder time ganking.

Oh and learn to CS. Go on bot games, even by yourself if you want, just to get the hang of it. This is must come naturally as you progress, so you can learn properly how to CS effectively, harass and all the while managing resources.

Like Vynertje explained, this is something you should take a look at.

Sometimes it's just very bad luck,

I guess.

You know what you are doing wrong so you can fix it, as for the trolls and the AFK goes...play to get better at some point your skill level will be much higher then your opponents and you will have an easier time carrying even with a troll in your team. Another advice, try dou-quing with someone, it's much easier and you have a smaller chance of getting a troll or and AFK.

Appreciate all the tips guys. Especially regarding not playing in a bad mood, etc. Usually when I start losing I get into a spiral where I get so invested and determined to break the tilt that it can get ugly.

As far as my CSing goes - I have a really hard time getting CS post lane. Seems like at that point everyone's roaming, ganking, and doing farming of their own. Something I definitely need to focus on.

Update: I'm ready to quit this game forever. I can't bear watching 2/3 lanes throw almost every game.
