Trust me when I tell you that Viktor and Urgot have always been my secret love <3
But from my research the least played champion now is Skarner. WHY? He is OP. He is so tanky that he just pops Ghost and starts running towards your ADC. And then everyone knows what happens.
What happens in the jungle remains in the jungle :)

GP does something better than most champs. he offers a team a high movement speed advantage over the enemy through his Raise Morale and all his slows ( Grog Soaked Blade, Cannon Barrage, potentional items like Randuin's Omen, Iceborn Gauntlet, Blade of the Ruined King). And Raise Morale also means that pushing is way more efficient and the ADC is actually a lot stronger than normally.
He also has a high amount of free damage on enemies.

Currently Zed's pretty underrated. He got nerfed once and now people think he's **** for some reason.
wat. I had a team pick three Zed counters against me and I still blew them up without using ult lel
Basically how I play LoL
I think Darius could easily make a comeback with the current way S4 is going. I personally felt that the ulti nerf to him didn't hurt as much as the fact that building resistances felt less effective in S3 than S2 and left him unable to respond to ranged ADCs kiting and killing him. Now that Shyvana and Rengar are kind of the fotm top lane though he's got a place as a bruiser who can dunk the unkillable frontline and still have a followup. The pending buff to his ult's just going to bring attention to him again.
That said, I also think Wukong, Aatrox, Malphite and Udyr don't get as much props as they deserve to.
Edit: GP, no. I kind of agree he's not as bad as people make him out to be but what people say about him is justified. His scalings are all over the place which makes almost every build feel painful on him and he just doesn't do enough. I personally think he's better as a support right now than a solo lane, and that's not even to say his support is great by any means. And if you really want a team speed boost?

I'm not surprised. I got sort of frustrated and gave up trying to make him work last season seeing as I wasn't tanky enough to stay in a fight for long enough to use my ult more than once and there was no point in actually playing him when ADCs could kill the frontline with their damage alone. This season's a different story though.
The ADC uses Relentless Pursuit/ On The Hunt/ Flash and kites Skarner to death because he literally has no way of gap closing to a target and his one form of mobility is lost in about two autoattacks?
Skarner hasn't been good since Riot deleted his one way of reliably keeping a target next to him with his ultimate changes. Then they released Vi. You run Flash on Skarner always btw. Always.

@NickNameMy
He doesn't tank as much as other tanks, he doesn't deal as much damage as other damage dealers (in normal situations), his mobility and aura could be replaced by Zeke's Herald and Talisman of Ascension (not they were that relevant ). As a bruiser many others will outtank him AND outdamage him AND have better CC than him. The role of being an "aura person" should go more to the support who will do it much better and most likely also provide hard CC or heals. He just doesn't really fill a needed/wanted role for his team.

I think there is a big difference between under-rated and under-played.
For example a lot people know Talon is weak and isn't useful as a mid counter pick, but he just isn't picked as frequently as other reliable champs. Hence he isn't under-rated but he is under-played. underplayed because hes not viable anymore.
An under-rated champion, in my opinion, is a champion that most people think are more useless than they really are, for example Trundle is very under-rated due to the fact he isn't given a lot of attention by Riot/pro players, but he has insane dueling potential with his ult and Q, and can even duel a Jax and come out on top.
fixed for you.
