Renekton is grossly overrated in my humblest of opinions. Sure he wrecks face in the early stages, but at what price? He is quite frankly borderline useless lategame, only performing as a tank (and not even a great one at that).

Olaf probably beats Poppy simply because he can poke her with his Q repeatedly and get sustain off of creeps. Poppy doesn't have much of an answer to that.

In my opinion there will never be a "best" top laner. There are several to fill certain requirements or roles that certain team comps need. Dr. Mundo, for instance, is an unstoppable tank. He's dangerous to even be around at cap and is not something you want in your face. Then you have champs like Wukong. Wukong sucks against most top champs of this meta(that's also another thing you have to consider as well; What's the current meta?). But, Wukong's ultimate has ridiculous AD scaling and can shred a whole team very quickly if used correctly.
So really, I guess my answer is: There is no "best" top lane. Just powerful picks vs the current meta and the opposing comp.

Q: Fast Lane Clear.
W: Heal+Armor.

To counter ganks, she'll have to ward the blue buff bush, the bush beneath baron's camp, and the bush beneath the enemies turret.

@GeekNeff: I beg to differ. Take in every possible variable that comes into play and one will come out that is good enough in each aspect of the game that surmounts every other pick. Right now, that comes with the name Shyvana on it. But that's just right now.
And don't even bother with the 'she is countered by x and y' because her benefits for the team heavily outway the cons even when countered, because she can just farm the jungle and play it safe until unleashing the dragon. This coming from a dude that loves to run Olaf against her because I poop on her early and often, but if I don't do it hard enough late-game she's gonna dive my ADC regardless and live to tell the tale most of the time.
But hey, just my opinion.
