Let's take the topic away from video games for just a second so you can comprehend this scenario a bit better; Jimmy Gibs likes this idea of bowling. Jimmy Gibs bowls somewhat frequently since the company he works for offers free bowling alley access. Jimmy Gibs has never bowled before, so he decides to give bowling a shot. Jimmy Gibs sucks at bowling. He sucks so bad that he can only muscle a mere 60 points per game. It didn't bother him because he simply enjoyed bowling. Over time, he picked up a trick or two and was able to bowl an average o 90 per game on his second year in. His third year in, he finally made it up to 120. This isn't significant, but to him, improvements happened slow and steady. He never bothered to try to read any guides or to watch any of the other bowlers bowl. Heck, he tried a league or two once just for fun, but was scared to participate since he wasn't up to par with the rest of the competition. That forced him to slunk back into his casual setting. Well, from time to time he did start to watch a bowler or two, and when he did, he learned a few tricks that improved his game. Finally, he decided in his fourth year that he wanted to get serious about bowling (Primarily because his boss is an ass hole and he wants to quit to become a professional bowling player). So he decides to go the extra mile this time around and join a bowling group to get some tips on how to improve his game, and probably find a mentor or two to help him improve his technique. But unfortunately, he was met with "LOL! BOWLING FOR 4 YEARS AND YOU CAN ONLY BOWL 120? LAWWWWLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!". Case in point. I was the same way with CS. I was the same way with pokemon even and I played pokemon religiously as well as CS. But the thing was, I played it for fun and as something to pass the time with my friend's. I learned a thing or two along the way (EV training, IV training, Sniper Positions, HOW TO FUCKING AIM IN CS LOL), but honestly, I was still a lower end player because I never really made an effort to try to understand the game better or the advanced tactics that separate the decent from the pro. I just played public servers with random people who were either worse than me, just as bad as me or an ass hole pro player who would shove his dick up our asses for funsies. I wanted to win, yes, but at the same time, it was just a game to me. I'd try rated matches and win some lose some, but I never made that much of an effort to try to get better. I just cruised through the games, had my fun and called it a night. You're making him out to be a retard with that example, when all I think is OP's problem is probably more technical stuff, like timers, ward locations, counter-picks ect. That's shit I picked up when I got serious about LoL. Before that, I just cruised on from game to game with literally a 50/50 win to lose ratio. My two cents is that you've got no grasp on casual vs dedication. OP admits that he ignored fundamentals and wasn't serious about the game as much as he should be. I suggest that you honestly give this a bit more thought before you open up your mouth and say something ignorant. Again. And what the fuck is the point on saying "You've been playing for 4 years and haven't improved!?". Like, why are you telling him things he said? I mean,... he's the one that said them.... And you're pretending like there isn't a shitload of players UNRANKED. Meaning that that's probably a shitload of people who don't dedicate a lot of time into learning LoL and just cruise control through it like any other game. Like how I did with pokemon and CS. At least this guy made it to bronze. That isn't much, but it sure is better than unranked. And the thing is, this guy wants to get better. Like, he pointed out how shitty of a player he is after these 4 years of cruising along. He wants to change. Why are you going to sit there and post stupid shit like what you just did? Mind you that was season 2. In season 3 I placed in bronze again and stopped 23 games in. I didn't continue with ranked to try to improve. I had a tendency to get discouraged easily back then and gave up. Now I have put those feelings of discouragement behind me. I dont take other players (ie: trolls) as serious as I used to and I go into every game giving it my all, only focusing on how to help my team improve as the game progresses. I do enjoy watching a lot of diamond and challenger tier matches when I can. But I will be sure to check out some of the twitch channels mentioned in the previous comments. Again, thanks for your support and I will keep updating in the forums as I progress. And Lasty, its ok. I understand what you're saying and completely agree. No need for people to get all in an uproar. I knew what I was getting myself in when opening this thread. And Toshabi made good points as well. The point is that after you grow toward a job/hobby, you and the job/hobby have to grow together or else you will lose the attraction and give up on it.
