Machine-Doll wa Kizutsukanai takes place in a different setting, with magic and early industrialization combined(think steam engines and machines powered by magic). Some more magical girls. Kaze no Stigma takes place in a modern world but has magic based on elements(fire, wind, earth...) Darker than Black has some elements.[/quote]

More small things like that, I'll have to reread some things to specifically point them out if you're interested. I think the story progression is too small. I'm still enjoying it but it feels like they made a good story with a list of important elements and started to write arcs as big as possible to contain one such a single element. With shounens and stuff like that I don't think that matters, because the main attraction of those genres isn't providing a story to think about. But Koe no Katachi lives of its story progression and how that story keeps the reader on the edge. There are no action scenes, no jokes and whatnot contained in other genres. They established a great start with the history arc. Then a very good meeting arc. Bridge arc was definitely needed too. The rest of the arcs felt like introducing new characters just to lengthen the plot to me. There's a conclusion hanging above the story like Damocles' sword(they kill each-other, kill themselves or the reconcile) and the story never moves towards it. It only tries to add to the feelings of the reader while I think the goal is to ride on those feelings, not try to keep them as long as possible. I said it earlier, but I think this kind of story shouldn't have a long duration or it will die out. Unless I got the totally wrong impression and this is supposed to be a soap. EDIT: I'm 7 episodes in Log Horizon now. Nice series indeed. The art style feels a little bit clunky compared to SAO's though. It gives a little bit of a the A-team vibe :D[/quote]
