When you say scaled wrongly do you mean the photo size or the background?
800x800 works really well for avatars, providing a great quality image.
The background is supposed to have that effect, almost like a dripping paint.

I was aiming for a glassy theme with the text. i like it a lot, i find the glossy effect and the transparency really cool.

Maybe if you had an under shadow effect on your text that was a little darker, but I think it looks fine the way it is

But I decided to only cut out about 75px, since 100px made it seem a little too squished in my opinion. And looking at it now, the background's really weird D: On my photoshop, it looks evenly smudged, but here it looks all blocky. halp? :3
