Introduction and Updates
If you're here, it's surely because you want more informations on how playing (the very special)Orianna in 3v3.
Good and bad points :
- She's a pleasant char.
- She will burst like hell after getting core's stuff.
- She will run like Flash and will be the queen of Harassment.
- She will snipping ennemies at 5km with her 2.2 attack speed.
- She will be the new Nightmare (Nocturne is outdated) of your opposents.
- You will play 2 CHAR, the BALLS and HER
- She can slap Jax's butt (read the section bellow)
- Early is Weak.
- If you don't have the good runes, you will feel unconfortable.
- Out of Mana issue (without runes).
- Very squishy if not played well.
- Very hard to master.
- Harder to get stuffed without being in Middle.

Update 6/2/11 : please, read before rating. This is probably not the only way out to play Orianna. Don't forget that Orianna is new and she is difficult to play.
Update 6/3/11 : Someone's whispered that my build can be use in 5v5 too but I've never tested in. My point of view : She should be a little bit squishy in 5v5 with this build, I guess. You should think to build an HP item like Banshee or Rilay if your really want to play her in 5v5.

Background and Abilities
There once was a Piltovian man named Corin Reveck who had a daughter named Orianna, whom he loved more than anything else in the world. Though Orianna had incredible talent for dancing, she was deeply fascinated by the champions of the League of Legends. This fascination compelled her to begin training to become such a champion. It is unfortunate that her sheltered, wide-eyed naivete led her to take unnecessary and dangerous chances which ultimately led to her tragic demise. Orianna's death shattered Corin, driving him into deep depression and an obsession with techmaturgy. He could not stand the void his daughter's death left in his life, so he decided to build a replacement – one that would complete Orianna's dream of joining the League. What was created is the clockwork killing machine that Corin named after his daughter. Knowing that she was destined to be a champion and seeing the way the times were changing, he created The Ball as her pet and protector. This nearly symbiotic creation uses a different type of techmaturgy, relying more heavily on electricity than clockwork.
Orianna and The Ball now fight as Champions in the League of Legends, using the Clockwork Girl's sometimes misguided morality as a compass. She tries in earnest to fit in with those around her. However, no matter how hard she tries, Orianna can never be human and there is always something unnerving and alien about her. Though she attempts social interaction with other champions in the League of Legends, there are few who can get past her exotic nature. To many, it's as if there's nothing inside, that Orianna is just a soulless clockwork shell – a dangerous and deadly one at that. However, all along she remains the perfect daughter in her father's eyes.
“Dance with me, my pet. Dance with me into oblivion.”
Passive – Clockwork Windup: Orianna’s autoattacks deal additional magic damage every hit, subsequent attacks on the same target within a few seconds will add more damage per hit. This bonus stacks up to three times.
Command - Attack: Orianna commands her ball to fly towards target location, dealing damage to targets hit but doing reduced damage for each additional target hit. Her ball remains behind at that location afterwards.
Command – Dissonance: Orianna commands her ball to emit a magnetic pulse, dealing damage to units around it. Afterwards, the ball leaves a field behind for a few seconds that speeds up allies and slows enemies.
Command – Protect
(Passive): The allied champion the ball is attached to gains bonus Armor and Magic Resistance.
(Active): Orianna commands her ball to fly to and attach onto an allied champion, dealing damage to enemies it passes through and shielding the allied champion when it arrives.
Command – Shockwave: Orianna commands her ball to emit a shockwave after a short delay, flinging affected enemies in the vicinity into the air a set distance towards, and possibly over, her ball.
Runes are quiet basic :
Red : PenMagic - Orianna is a mage, she needs magic penetration for all her spells, I won't recommended you to play Orianna without them.
Yellow : RgnMana/Level - Orianna has got a very poor regen-mana pool. You NEED this runes to avoid oom-issue.
Blue : AP/Level - Orianna's Racial stacks on AP. I got this runes to get a good progression of my AP pool. Even if I got some problem of farm (because of a s*** harassement), I can have a good AP-ratio.
Quint : Swiftness - Why ? Because Orianna is very slow without them, and you will feel this slow all the game long. It's quiet boring. In addition, this build's focussing on AS too. You will need to chase ennemy (or runaway like a bird to escape ganks).
Red : You won't change them for anything in the world. If you still wanna play Orianna without them, use Alacrity...
Yellow : Flat RgnMana - You will need to be much more attentive to your mana if you won't be OOM 24/24. You will use your Auto Attack to DPS much more than your ball.
HP/Level - Don't you have any pity for your RgnMana-pool ?! But If you feel more confortable with more HP and you're using this runes, take "Chalice of Harmony" (mandatory with these runes)
Blue : Don't use AP Flat, it's useless. Your starting is Wak. You could use CDRFlat who're much better. With them you will have 40% CDR (and not 34%) ; it's a good alternative. In reverse, CDR/Level are useless too with the items-build I use. (the cap is 40% you will have 45%). I'm sure : don't take them.
Quints : You can use - Flat HP - AP/level - MagicPenetration (but you will have the speed of a snail.)
Like upthere, masteries're quiet basic.
I'm focussing on deep utility (for the mana regeneration) and I get Archaic Knowledge in attack for the magic penetration.
The most important part (for a lot of people) of this guide : Items.
I'm alway starting with a "Doran's Ring". It gives a good bonus of HP (Orianna loves that) and some mana-regeneration AND some AP. What a beautiful item, isn't it ?
You can start with a "Amplifying Tome" and "Potion" if you feel confortable with Orianna.
After that, I'm rushing boots. Actualy I prefer "Sorcier's Shoes" for the magical penetration. You can take "Mercury Shoes" if you think you will be focused on focused by stunning characters.
The next 2 items are representing the core of my build. I take "Malady" and "Wit's End" because there're stacking SO WELL with Oriana's Racial. With these 2 items. You will get a nice boost of your AS/AP ratios (in bonus you got more RM, that's great).
If you feel confortable and you can wait a little bit longer to get your Rabadon, take "Guinsoo's Rageblade". It will boost like hell your AS and AP ratios. Do you remember old diesel cars ? It's exatcly the same here. "-tap-taptap-taptaptap-taptaptaptaptaptaptaptap !"
After that, rush "Nashor's Tooth". It will give you a nice Reduc CD (you will spam your balls like a tennis ball). Nice AP boost. Nice AS boost. Nice mana regeneration boost. This item is a waken dream for her.
To conclude, I usualy take "Rabadon's Deathcap" to got like 450 AP. Like that your ball (and racial) will hurt a lot. Even if people have "MR". If you got a lot of HP tanks against you. Try "Madred's Razor Blade" it's actualy quiet fun. o/
Some of you would apreciate a build with some HP (it's more confortable).
Take it ezzzzy, I've heard you guys !
- Like the first one : I take "Doran's Ring" for the same reasons.
- If you wanna be a little bit more Tanky : "Mercury Boots" are cryin' to be taken.
- Rushing "Malady" & "Wit's End" (mandatory)
- After that, you feel that's necessary to have more HP. Here you've 2 choices : Rod of Age / Rilay (I really prefer Rilay for the snare)
- Build Nashor's Tooth (mandatory)
- Take "Rabadon" to boost your AP
You will deal less damages but you will be stronger. Your shield will absorb the same (250-350) but with the HP-boost, you can feel the pain without crying. (but you still a mage o/)
Do you wanna play with "Lich Bane" ? Oh yes you can.
Here you got the priority order :
- Doran's Ring
- Sorcier's Boots
- Wit's End + Malady
- Finish Lich Bane
Priority order : R-Q-W-E (USA) ; R-A-Z-E (EU)
Upping the Q/A in priority is great for harassment in early game.
W/Z can be use for 2 things. Escape/Snare/Speed. Or to deal damage on ennemy.
In the beggning, using the combo Q+W/A+Z will deal a lot of damage on the ennemy (it will cost a lot of mana, be attentive).
E is good. I can't deny it. But he's much more usefull in endgame with the AP boost. The sield will absorb 350/400 damage and give the little boost of armor and resist magic you don't have with items.
R is a very nice ult. It can interrupt a lot of things (like the Lotus of Katarina) and change a s*** situation in a great victory for your team.
In the game
Early : BE VERY ATTENTIVE : you're very very very squishy in the beggining.
In Early game : you've to go middle/up - Farm minions and harass with your ball. If your opposents harass you, stay at the turret but don't get killed. You can try to get a kill, but if I was you, I would stay safe until Mid Game.
In Mid Game : You're becomming dangerous for your opposent. Your ball starts making a lot of DPS and you got Wit's End + Maladye and your autoattack is potentialy dangerous. There, you start ganking and farming the jungle to increase your level quickly. Try to not be gank by ennemies (use your ball to check bushes).
In End Game : You're Terminator v3.5 even Chuck Norris will think twice to kill you. Your attackspeed is 2.2 ; your DPS is deathly ; your ball is potentialy dangerous. In teamfight you've to stay behind and use your ball to DPS all the team (use your autoattack against the squishiest ennemy). In 1v1.... Feel confident, you can't really loose : attack : ball ; AOE ; + autoattack and it's clear.
I've tried a lot of combination...
In the end, "Ghost" and "Exhaust" seem the most adapted for her.
Why Ghost ? Because we're on 3v3. I like Flash too... But with her and W/Z, ghost will be much more usefull to escape a gank/harass someone. Think about it : With the jungle buff (+15% speed) + quints + boots + W/Z + Ghost, you could be anywhere on the map you can join a teamfight in 1.01s.
Why Exhaust ? Because she's very squishy at the beginning. I like Exhaust because it's a defensive and offensive spell. You can use it to escape a sticky Jax/Trynd and actualy erase their burst to kill them.
- With this build, you can farm the jungle since you've Malady and Wit's End. (and do it, to increase the level between you and opposents)
- Don't forget to auto attack when using the ball. You DPS like your ball.
- Don't forget to use your shield on allies. Don't be individual. It can save a teamfight
- Think before using your ulti. It can change a teamfight. For example, you can break the Nunu's ult.
- You're not a superhero even if your autoattacks hurt like hell. You still a mage. Don't do 1v3...
- In 1v1, The combo burst is Attack : Ball - Ult - W/Z (+ Auto Attack). Your ennemy won't even understand his death.
- Erase the squishiest opposent. With this build, it's your job.
- Don't forger that your shield can absord the ult from Karthus.
- USE YOUR BALL(s) (NOT LITERRALY) TO CHECK BUSHES ! IT CAN DETECT ENNEMIES ! IT CAN SAVE YOUR LIFE !

How to kill a Jax ?
Do you know this guy ?
This big fat panda is a pain in the neck for you ? Scream together : never again !
- In the beggining, he's wak so it's okay but...
- When the middle game is starting, he will become a nightmare for you (cause you take your time in auto attack)
- BUT THERE IS NO PROBLEM DOWN THERE !
- When you're starting to realise that you're a noob VS Jax, you will cry
- And probably see this part of the build.
- One object is a lot underrated in game (not in ranked) : "Sword of the Divine"
- Your (auto)-attacks won't be dodged for 8s, exactly the time to (over)kill him.
- Like the name of this item : it's Divine. With that, Jax is sc**.
- Switch Wit's End for this item and Jax's player (hatters I mean) will go back to their mummies.
- Easy to know you will tell me. But a lot of people don't know the true potential of this object. It's why it's important to underline the fact (Jax is Wak).

Analyse a Defeat
My first defeat with Orianna (o/ happy birthday Orianna !)
Team 1 (Mundo-Katarina-Orianna) VS (Nocturne - Jax - Sion AP) Team 2
What can we see there ?
First of all, my items-build work perfectly even if I'm losing (great). There's a lot of bias about an Hybrid AS/AP Orianna. Ennemies alway told me that I'm a noob with her (cause I took these objects). The point is that I've totaly destroy their ***es... They got 45min to understand that xD...
When they understand that I'm potentialy dangerous they've started to ignore me/focus me in 3v1... But, what can I do if I've a noob team (we can't be lucky in random mode). I know it's easy to say that's always the team fault (and not mine.) but take a look : Mundo doesn't want to tank and let Katarina or Me to go first on teamfight, that's quiet dumb, no ?
NvM : I've lose with Orianna, but it was quiet fun too. I got a lot of kill (after me Katarina had 6/10/4 something like that so...) and I've the confirmation that my item-builds work well in very end game.
