This guide has not yet been updated for the current season. Please keep this in mind while reading. You can see the most recently updated guides on the browse guides page
He punishes you when you're trying to trade by pressing his Q so he'll deny your W. Play passive from early to mid game stacking MR or build Adaptive Helm early to nullify his poke.
Darius
You should have an advantage over him as long as you can dash in, do damage, and dash out. But if you trade for too long, Darius would eventually get 5 stacks of bleed on you. Keep trades as short as possible.
Nasus
A good Nasus player would freeze the wave all the way to his tower and stack until mid game. This would result in you overpushing and get ganked multiple times.
Best tip would be to wear him down in the early game by poking, denying his farm, and have your jungler gank him multiple times.
Fiora
Being an immobile champ with only your E as a dashing tool, Fiora can beat you easily.
Try to hide your vital spots when farming as she outsustains you in lane.
When engaging, do not stun right after a dash, as Fiora could W during that time. Either you wait for Fiora to preemptively use her W or when it's on CD.
Mordekaiser
He outsustains you with his W heals and shields. Stack up your MR and try to stay in lane as long as possible until you can kill him with a gank.
Malphite
Malphite counters most AD matchups, especially Renekton. He wins trades just with his passive shield, E and strong basic attacks.
His weakness, however, would be mana in the early game. Try to do more trades to force him to use abilities.
Garen
Garen has decent poke from early to mid game. Extend trades with him as his Q and E don't scratch much and his W has a long CD.
If you're looking to engage, combo him after Garen uses his W.
Jax
A rather easy matchup for Renekton since Jax isn't strong pre-6. As long as you don't trade when Jax is channeling his E, you win the lane.
Urgot
A scary matchup late game. His only weakness is lack of mobility. Try trading with him when his W is down and dodge his Q, E and R whenever possible.
Swain
Easy matchup. He lacks mobility and sustain early game. Engage whenever Swain misses his E or/and used his W.
Ornn
Ornn's kit makes him annoying but not sustainable. With his W shield removed, you can win trades as long as you dodge his Q E.
Riven
She can snowball once you give her a kill. Best that you start with 1 cloth armor and 4 pots to hold your lane. Build tanky and eventually she won't be able to burst you down.
Irelia
Similar to Riven, she can snowball once she gets ahead. Dodge her E and engage when Irelia doesn't have the full 4 stacks of her passive.
Aatrox
A decent matchup. Be careful of his all-in from his Q and W. Dodge the tips of his Q and go in when it's on CD.
Kled
A tough matchup since Kled is a tank with a kit that can burst you. Play safe until the jungler ganks your lane.
Jayce
Jayce is one of the strongest in the early game. In order to beat him, either hold your lane until mid game by stacking armor and health or wait until Jayce runs out of mana.
Kennen
No sustain but a lot of poke potential. If you cannot reach him through your E, just farm until mid-late game and stack some MR. Drop his attack speed if Kennen decides to go on-hit.
Illaoi
Do not engage unless she does not have tentacles around her, because her Q and W will instantly win trades. Her E also makes her an annoying champion to deal with. Look to outsustain her and burst her before she kills you with her R.
Renekton
A mirror matchup will always come down to jungle ganks and mechanics. Stack up the Fury to 50 and look to all-in him with your Fury W. Combined with Press The Attack, you can do a lot of damage in 1 combo.
Pantheon
Pantheon's damage falls off pretty quickly after dying 1-2 times during laning phase. You can engage when his passive is not up yet. Pressure the lane to prevent Pantheon from roaming with his R.
Cho'Gath
Easily punishable matchup as his only source of massive damage is E. His R would be scary only if you let him stack via kills/minions. Keep poking him and deny his CS so he can't regen from his passive.
Vayne
A very rare occurrence. But if you do face her, stack up armor and force minion aggro onto her. Thornmail could be a good item as it reflects damage, drops her attack speed, and applies grievious wounds.
However, do not let her reach late game or snowball as her true damage would melt anyone.
Gangplank
Be careful of his barrels + Q as those 2 are his source of poke and damage. His only source of healing is his W. If you're looking to kill him, get multiple trades off him and eventually he'd have to recall.
Dr. Mundo
0 damage in the early game. Look to end the game before late otherwise he'd mow your team. Dodge his Q as that's his source of poke. Ignite and Executioner's Blade are highly recommended to halve his regen.
Camille
A strong dueliest like Fiora, but more punishable. She has no sustain except her W and her default Ravenous Hydra build. Stack armor and slowly wear her down until you are tanky enough to face her.
Singed
Rule #1: Do not chase Singed.
Not only does he deal a lot of damage, he's also quick on his feet. The only time you can kill him is when he's proxy-ing the wave and have your jungler stop him from doing so. Otherwise, outpressure the lane.
Yasuo
Be aware of Yasuo's animation cancelling and E Q poke. But other than that, he's rather easy to kill. If he looks to all in you, stack up Fury and W the instant he engages.
Poppy
You can't win her. Her W denies your entire combo starter (your E), her Q shreds HP and her passive can nullify damage (if she picks the buckler up).
Try helping your team secure kills on the other side of the map.
Rengar
Rengar is a rather strong matchup. Avoid getting leaped on from the bush by staying far from the 3 bushes during laning phase. Before he reaches 4 stacks, poke him.
Tryndamere
An auto attack champion can easily be countered with armor items such as Randuin's Omen, Thornmail, or Deadman's Plate. Stack armor and force Tryndamere to heal from his Q and that'll be your window of opportunity to tear him down.
