Skill Usage

Irelia's Ionian Fervor is her staple ability, making it very difficult to lock her down in teamfights and skirmishes with crowd control due to her extended tenacity.
For this reason, Irelia is a feared assassin and very capable at targeting and killing carries due to the difficulty involved in keeping her off them with crowd control.
Bear in mind that this tenacity does not reduce the crowd control applied by knock-ups or suppression.
Invisible units, such as enemy champions in brush or Twitch with Ambush active will not proc Ionian Fervor's bonus tenacity.
Bladesurge is a powerful farming tool as it refreshes and refunds mana if it kills the targeted enemy, including minions, and also serves as a gap closer.
If you miss when last hitting a minion, quickly use your Bladesurge on it, so you still kill it successfully without losing cooldown or too much mana.
Bladesurge applies on-hit effects, including the true damage dealt by IreliaSquare.png Irelia's Hiten Style, the magic damage from Wit's End, and it will proc and immediately apply the additional damage from Sheen item.png Sheen, albeit only every two seconds per its cooldown limitations.
Use Bladesurge to cover great distances by targeting low health minions on your way to champion targets.
Inversely, targeting enemy minions can help IreliaSquare.png Irelia escape from ganks.
By using Bladesurge on a full health ranged minion while having Trinity Force item.png Trinity Force, you will usually kill a full health ranged minion instantly, so you can use it one more time.
Use Transcendent Blades at range to soften up a minion to open up opportunities for a successful Bladesurge reset.
Hiten Style gives Irelia exceptional laning strength. Each level will provide increased sustain and bonus true damage per attack.
Combined with Bladesurge, this combo makes Irelia among the best champions at last-hitting under allied turrets.
Hiten Style synergizes strongly with attack speed. The more hits IreliaSquare.png Irelia can land within the duration of its active means increased sustain and increased damage output.
Hiten Style also heals while attacking structures such as turrets, as it heals on-hit. She may activate this while pushing for extra sustain in lane.
True damage cannot be negated, so keep in mind that the Hiten Style.png Hiten Style active cannot be negated by Exhaust or any attack damage debuff.
However, an attack speed slow such as Ground Slam.png Ground Slam will reduce your sustain and damage output.
Irelia's Equilibrium Strike will either stun or slow depending on the total % of health Irelia has compared to her target. If higher, it will slow. If lower, it will stun.
This gives Equilibrium Strike a lot of flexibility in its use - it will slow in a chasing situation, and stun to either turn the tides of a fight or give Irelia a means of escape.
For this reason, it is often best to save Equilibrium Strike until later in a fight to secure a sudden advantage and turn around.
To help your jungler gank your lane, purposefully letting your health drop below your target's can provide a much-needed stun to ensure a kill.
Consider investing your first skill point into Equilibrium Strike in order to avoid and survive a potential early gank during laning.
Transcendent Blades allows for strong, multi-target damage and sustain, giving Irelia increased survivability in fights, especially when focusing down important targets.
Remember that Transcendent Blades will heal Irelia for more when striking champions than striking minions.
In a teamfight, it's generally best to aim Transcendent Blades to hit as many champions as possible to keep you alive, rather than directly at a single target for extra damage, as this will give you the best sustain. With proper positioning, both these effects can be achieved without having to compromise. For example, shift around to fire the blades forward into the bulk of the enemy team while also hitting the main target.
You can also use Bladesurge.png Bladesurge to position yourself to hit the most amount of enemies with Transcendent Blades.
During laning, fire into as large of a minion group as possible to regain large amounts of health either to continue laning or to survive a skirmish.
Ignite combined with Transcendent Blades makes a rather strong combo to kill fleeing enemies.
If coordinated well, it also makes an effective tool for escaping ganks or failed team fights at low health. By clicking the edge of your screen and firing off a few blades, you can heal from the enemy champions chasing you to buy time to escape.
Transcendent Blades can give you a "stepping stone". By using it to lower health of ranged minions, you can dash continuously when using Bladesurge.png Bladesurge on them.
Wait for the spellblade proc from Sheen or Trinity Force to refresh before casting Bladesurge.png Bladesurge to maximize damage output.
Even though Irelia has a lot of sustain, she also has a lot of burst damage when her opponent has more health than her at level 6. Opening with Equilibrium Strike, activating Hiten Style.png Hiten Style and Transcendent Blades.png Transcendent Blades immediately, and Bladesurge as the opponent flees and gains some distance (so you can land another autoattack or even more with Phage. This combo is capable of dealing a lot of damage. Combined with Ignite and Sheen, it can even kill somebody from full health in a few seconds.
Irelia also can burst at level 2 (though you can only do that with a level advantage, or if your enemy has wasted an ability). Use your Bladesurge onto a low health minion near your enemy, then follow with Equilibrium Strike, attack him and then Bladesurge after landing an auto attack or if he runs away. By using this trick, you can burn 2 of the enemy champion's Health Potion item.png health potions.

Build Usage

Trinity Force is recommended for a good reason, as shown by its components and subsequent easy build-up:
Zeal grants a small boost in mobility, and attack speed to use Hiten Style.png Hiten Style more effectively.
Sheen applies itself automatically on Bladesurge.png Bladesurge, boosting its damage. Each individual blade of Transcendent Blades activates (but does not apply) the Sheen/Trinity Force item.png Trinity Force proc. The mana increase also allows IreliaSquare.png Irelia to use Bladesurge to farm and last-hit minions more often, especially in a lane she cannot control and is forced against the turret.
Phage adds onto chasing potential with Equilibrium Strike's CC, and additional AD/health is always essential on a melee champion. You should buy it first (after a Sapphire Crystal if you have mana problem).
Iceborn Gauntlet can be a good alternative to Trinity Force item.png Trinity Force. Especially if the enemy deals a lot of physical damage.
Attack Speed should be a priority to DPS-focused IreliaSquare.png Irelia players, because of the damage potential and healing of Hiten Style.png Hiten Style.
Wit's End is a great item on IreliaSquare.png Irelia because of the AS, magic resistance and the bonus on-hit damage.
Blade of the Ruined King is also great, giving more AS, as well as sustain and a strong active.
When considering defense, remember that Irelia has 2 ways of healing, and thus armor and magic resist are valued somewhat higher. You still want health to protect against burst damage.
Spirit Visage along with Hiten Style and Transcendent Blades allows Irelia to gain a great amount of health back when in trouble, as well as giving her some nice CDR to use her abilities even more often.
Even though it stacks multiplicatively with her Ionian Fervor, tenacity items (Zephyr or Mercury's Treads) are still a good choice, as they help you stick to your target. That combined with Elixir of Iron and the Tenacity mastery allow her to have enough tenacity in teamfight to be almost CC Immune.
Guardian Angel not only gives you armor and magic resist, but the passive allows you to be much more aggressive in teamfights.
NOTE: Being revived with a Guardian Angel item.png Guardian Angel while having one Transcendent Blades.png blade left will revive you with four blades ready.

irelia's Passive

For each nearby enemy champion, Irelia reduces the duration of stuns, slows, taunts, fears, snares, immobilizes, blinds and silences.

1 champion: 10%
2 champions: 25%
3 or more champions: 40%

Ionian Fervor is a passive ability that reduces the duration of most crowd control effects on Irelia by a percentage dependent on the number of visible enemy champions within sight range.

Additional Information:

When Ionian Fervor activates, Irelia's headdress will glow red and the Ionian Fervor buff will appear on her status bar.
If Ionian Fervor triggers for multiple enemy champions, the glow will become stronger and the buff will gain further stacks.
Ionian Fervor does not reduce the duration of knock-ups, knock-backs, or suppression.

Ionian Fervor stacks multiplicatively with tenacity and Tenacious mastery s4.png Tenacious for a total of:

1 champion: 50.28%

2 champions: 58.56%

3 or more champions: 66.85%

Irelia's Q

Irelia dashes forward to strike her target, dealing physical damage and applying on-hit effects. If it kills the target, Bladesurge's cooldown refreshes and refunds 35 mana.

Physical Damage: 20 / 50 / 80 / 110 / 140 (+ 100% AD)

Bladesurge is a targeted dash ability that brings Irelia to the target enemy unit, and applying on-hit effects on arrival.

Does apply on-hit effects, life steal but can NOT critically strike.
Classified as a melee attack.
The damage will be mitigated by Counter Strike, Aegis Protection, Riposte.png Riposte, and will miss if Irelia is blinded.
Spell shields will block the damage.

Additional Information:

Bladesurge will only allow Irelia to dash through walls if there is enough space for her on the other side.
Damage is dealt to the target regardless of whether she reaches their location or not.
If the target dies within a very short time (approx. 0.5 seconds) of performing Bladesurge, its cooldown will still refresh.

Irelia's W

Passive: Irelia's basic attacks restore health.

Active: Irelia's basic attacks deal additional true damage for 6 seconds and Hiten Style's passive on-hit health restore is doubled for the duration

True Damage: 15 / 30 / 45 / 60 / 75

Health Restored: 10 / 14 / 18 / 22 / 26

Hiten Style passively grants Irelia an on-hit effect. When activated, Hiten Style is a self-target ability that buffs Irelia for a short duration, adding bonus on-hit true damage.

True damage ignores all forms of damage reduction, except invulnerability.

Additional Information:

Hiten Style's true damage does not apply spell effects.
Hiten Style's true damage does not work on structures, but the passive healing does.
Hiten Style's passive health gain is not lost while the ability is on cooldown.

Irelia's E

Active: Irelia pierces her target, dealing magic damage and Slow icon slowing the target by 60% for the duration. If the target has a higher health % than Irelia, she Stun icon stuns the target for the same duration instead.

Hextech Revolver item.png Spell vamp is fully applied.
Rylai's Crystal Scepter item.png Rylai's Crystal Scepter will apply a 35% slow.
Magic damage will be mitigated by magic shields.
Spell shields will block the damage and slow/stun.

Irelia's Ultimate

Irelia summons 4 spirit blades and fires one in a line towards the cursor, dealing physical damage to enemies it passes through. Irelia is healed for 25% of the damage dealt to champions and 10% of the damage dealt to minions and monsters.
Within the next 15 seconds, Transcendent Blades can be used up to three more times at no cost.

Physical Damage Per Blade: 80 / 120 / 160 (+ 50% AP) (+ 60% bonus AD)

Maximum Physical Damage to One Target: 320 / 480 / 640 (+ 200% AP) (+ 240% bonus AD)

Transcendent Blades is a pass-through linear skillshot.

Applies spell effects as an area of effect ability.
Hextech Revolver item.png Spell vamp is reduced to one-third effectiveness.
Rylai's Crystal Scepter item.png Rylai's Crystal Scepter will apply a 15% slow.
Banshee's Veil item.png Spell shields will block the damage of one blade.
This ability is considered to be a projectile for Unbreakable.png Unbreakable and Wind Wall.png Wind Wall.

Additional Information:

All activations of Transcendent Blades have no cast time and do not interrupt Irelia's movement.
When first activated, Transcendent Blades has a 1 second cooldown before the 2nd blade can be fired. Between each remaining activation, a 0.5 second cooldown is applied.
Each activation of Transcendent Blades counts as a spellcast for the purpose of items such as Sheen item.png Sheen.
If Irelia dies and is resurrected by Guardian Angel or Zilean's Chrono Shift while Transcendent Blades is active, she will revive with four blades, no matter how many were used before dying.

Runes and spells

I like flat ad reds and quints for more killing potential in early then i go scaling yellows and blues for late game
As for spells you could also take teleport instead of ignite
Back to Top

Laning Phase/Farming

Irelia is pretty good at farming because of her Blade Surge(Q)
Whenever her Q kills something the coodown is refreshed and restores a percentage of her mana so as irelia you won't have problems with framing in general
Back to Top

The use of sheen/trinity force

Sheen/Trinity Force works very well with Irelia's Transcendent Blades(R) because everytime you ulti somebody then you have this beautiful sheen up
Just think of it
Also the 2 second stun your E provides combining with the damage sheen will deal will be enough to take him down
Back to Top

Positioning yourself in ganks/teamfights

When ganking other lanes you dhould try to look for objectives in low health so you can Q on them and then stun/slow the opponent
As for teamfights, Irelia is exceptionally well in locking down high priority targets because of the cc she provides it will be much easier for your team to take care of it

How to come back from a lost lane

If you lose your lane due to give first blood to your enemy top, don't be frustrated, don't type gg i am done ext
1) Try to play passively
2) Last hit whatever you can
3) Try to wait unit your opponent makes a mistake(tower dive you when both being low on heath, not having ward ect. ) then ask from your jungle/mid depending on who is closer to you to gank you
Back to Top

Pros / Cons

High burst damage in mid game
Irelia falls in early and late but if built coorectly, she can come back easily
