Skipping the Basic intro of Irelia

Lane Option:

With This build i usually take Mid or jungle (switch out ignite with Smite).


With the health runes and doran ring, you shouldn't have a problem jumping in with Q to do some dmg. Your basic strat pre-6 is to wait for the opponent to get close and Q in on them and E if you have the skill and get 1-2 hits off. Then back off, and wait for CD to recover and repeat.

Your E's ability to stun an opponent when ur at an lower % than they are. This is useful but dont take this too far. Drink your pot if your at the same hp/ close to behind their hp AFTER they pot, so your constantly behind them by a little.

When the opponent is at 15-20% depending on how much hp they have, it is an indication that you can kill them if they get close. Q, E, W with ignite and opponent should die. Irelia is also a champ that you can Dive easily with. If you have your R don't be afraid to dive them if they are at 20% and ignite is up.


Basically, Madreds, zerks and doran shield in the order i posted are standard and necessary (Zerks can come before madreds). Depending on the situation, you may need to get vamp scepter right after the Madreds Razor before finishing the bloodrazor.

After Starks, your choices to fill up the last item spots can be Frozen hammer, Phantom dancers or One of the big three bf swords (, Bloodthirst, IE). If CC's becomes a problem even with ur passive, get a banshees.

If either your or the opponents don't put your Red to its potential or don't use it, you can postpone or even not get Frozen hammer.

What to do in Teamfights

I feel that alot of poeple dont know what to do during team fights.

Two Options depending on situation:

This is just a suggested strategy in team fights. This is written in the assumption that you have knowledge of basic team fight strategy.

1) If their Carry is truly wrecking your team and their tanks are doing a great job supporting them, Wait like 1-2 seconds after your tanks initiates for the opponents to pick their focus and ghost to their squishies. ( unless there is an AoE stun or if ur tank's initiation was really good for you to go in for the carries)

2) Standard Option. Go in with your tanks and with your R, even if they are focusing you, your lifesteal with ur W should keep you alive while they try to kill you. Allocate your hp to see whether if you can keep chasing the carry or have to stick to atking w.e if closest to you to substain ur hp. If you get exhausted, continue to use your R and try to run so they have to chase you while ur team intervenes.


If you follow my gameplay strat with my build, you should be doing pretty well. Some things to note that may help using Irelia from experience.

*Mana is a bit on the crucial side if you want first blood. Don't Q in unless u can get 2 hits off or 1 hit with an E.
*Your First Q on the enemy tests your momentum each time you Q in. See the % of hp you do with Q and 1 or 2 hits if able and the dmg you take returning to your mobs.
*Yum Yum opponents: Ashe, Veigar, Heim, TF, Twitch, Teemo. (Any champs that start off squishy)
*Needs attention to fight (poeple i found to not die as easily): Kennen with Doran shields, Kass, Vlad and some Urgots.

My record roughly with Irelia:
3x negative
4x Even
30x Positive (Ranked per game average 11/5.5/9.5)
