TF is not a hard AP carry, he enables his other lanes to excel, primarily solo top and AD carry which scales a lot harder in late game. I chose to build tankier on him late game because FoN gives him movement speed, which allows him to get into position for a stun, and Randuins because it can shut down the enemy AD carry if they choose to target you. Your usefulness in a teamfight late game is not the damage you deal, but how many gold cards you can land in the duration of the fight. Again- your goal is not to deal damage late game, but to enable your team to win major fights. That's why you build AP items early game, but tankier late.

Change your items,if you can't even get your item build right then there is no need to read the rest of the guide

Couple suggestions, firstly when you talk abou your positioning, add pictures to really show what you mean! Also talk about your masteries and runes! Explain you decision to get those specifics and add alternatives if any!

As for your build. I wouldn't recommend force of nature of randuins omen. Instead I would replace FoN with Abyssal Scepter, and replace Randuins with Banshees Veil!

I'm really not a fan of those tanky items, but I think they're interchangeable with AP items ( Randuin's Omen --> Zhonya's Hourglass and Force of Nature --> Abyssal Mask). Though they don't give you that good a defense, they are adequate and help your damage.

Secondly, I'm just wondering why Pick A Card is in the item lists in the Items-section.
I'll hold my vote back until you reply, but I find this guide worthy of a +1.

I have to agree with sAltaji here, if you want to play AP TF you need as much burst as possible, and that means you should substitute your Randuin's Omen for a Zhonya's Hourglass because it also gives armor and a critical active that will really benefit you. TF is a class A poker and harasser, but if you are close enough that the Randuin's active hits a few people, you are way too close to the fight and you're going to die instantly. As for the Force of Nature, I don't mind getting one tanky item on a solid carry, but you'd be better off with Banshee's Veil for this purpose because of it's amazing spell shield and the strong health, mana, and MR it gives. Good start though I like the guide, only problem is those last two items. The tanks are there to protect you, you're there to dish out some major damage. +1 from me for a good start. PM me with any questions!

Just asking: You want to play AP-carry, why would you get 2 tankitems? waste of AP/damage in my eyes. If you want to get something usefull for later, try to change your Force of Nature and Randuin's Omen in a Will of the Ancients, Rod of Ages or a Guardian Angel.

Same goes for the runes: I 100% agree with the magicpen, but in my eyes you lack a lot of damage with the HP/lvl-seals, the MR/lvl-glyph and the HP-quintessences. Try to think about AP/lvl-glyph instead and AP/lvl-quintessences.

If you think you need some early tankyness, just use flat HP/lvl-seals. Should be enough.

(I play all my AP-carrys with flatAP-quint, flatAP-glyphs, manaregen-seals and magicpen-marks and it works fine, never needed any special HP/resistances on most of them, maybe on kassadin some MR would be nice)
