When I play Sion I actually like playing him a little more as support rather than top. People often underrate his supporting potential and like you explained, he's a tank and CC god.

I prefer to play him support but I think he's a great toplane pick and is a decent midlaner because he can destroy AP assassins with his wave clear and CC
