Introduction

Hello, let me start by saying I am not a Platinum level 1 or Challenger tier, I am your average Joe. But I can tell you that I have been playing Rengar for as long as I have been playing League. He is my go to champ when I want to have fun and win. This is one of the ways (the one I prefer) to build the cat. You could also go for the brute kitty, the assisting kitty, or even the AP jungle kitty. But, because it fills a whole in my life to see my kill count and not my assist count go up, here is my way of building him.

P.S. This is my first champion guide, so if you have any advice or comments, please share.

Pros / Cons

Pros:
    High damage
    Low cooldowns
    Ult that closes gaps
    Hard to counter jungle
    Empowered abilities
    No mana
Cons:
    Cant teamfight
    No real escapes
    Not best ganker

Runes

I go with the Movement Speed Quints instead of attack quints because it helps get the jungle caps quicker, enables me to gank better and also allows me to jump farther out of bushes. I bring a little MR with me for some of the camps and CR for my abilities. The more I can use my q the better. The rest is pretty standard stuff. 9 attack marks and 9 armor seals.

Masteries

I go 21 6 3. Again I give three mastery point for movement speed. Movement speed is deadly on rengar. The rest is pretty standard.

Skill Sequence

Max your q first, then your e, and then your w (updating your ult when available). Q does massive damage with LW and tiamat. I max my e second because sometimes while trying to kill someone you may need to use your empowered e to root them. I want that to hurt them as well. And lastly my w. I use this to sustain in the jungle. The reason I use it when killing someone is to activate my sheen.

Items

The only item I really want to touch up on is the jungle item. With the new jungle, it is paramount that you pick the right jungle item for your jungle style. The jungle items are now broken down to three parts: Base, middle, final. Your base is the hunters machete. The middle one is the jungle item you choose, without the empowerment. This stage is COMPLETELY up to you. All this decides is what your smite does. I like the Rangers trailblazer because it stuns the monsters and heals me in the process. The attachment with rengar that I recommend would be the Devourer empowerment. It gives you 50 attack speed. I know what your thinking, "wouldn't warrior be better for rengar? Damage and armor pen." It would be a good item, but it wouldn't make a difference late game. The Devourer has a passive that stacks from the moment you get it, making basic attacks do x amount of magic damage based on how many large monsters and champions you have killed. The passive mixed with sheen, tiamat and LW shreds through health.

Creeping / Jungling

Here is my jungle path for the new jungle:

Start with red buff(smite it). Then go to birds, then wolves (can smite if needed). Ward blue and base.

Go blue buff (Smite). Then go frog, and then kill the river bug. Use this time to freely get your ferocity up to heal yourself. Then invade his rock things (smite). If top is pushed back, consider getting your stacks up and ganking. Then base.

Go for birds again (smite them). Sweep for wards in river near bot lane. If you find them kill them. If not and the lane is pushed back try to gank. If the lane isnt pushed back, go kill river bug (again, heal yourself). Then take your rock guys. While doing this, keep an eye on bot lane, ganking when needed.

I go for dragon around 8-10 minutes in, make sure you have wards placed around. Dragon is very important to get control of now. It is a high priority. Smite well.

The rest of the jungle path is based on what you need when. I always find use in the frog and the rock guys buffs. Make sure to keep an eye on the dragon timer. You want it every time.

Summary

Thank you for learning how to play rengar with me. Note: this is for Silver players and under because I am currently a silver player...I blame elo hell. Hopefully this will carry me to gold or even CHALLENGER! I'll keep you posted. But enough about me. This is a fun way to play Rengar. Just make sure to always have full stacks when you start a 1v1, keep the jungle warded, and dont be afraid to counter jungle.

Thank you, I hoped this helped.
