I don't understand why people believe junglers NEED a lifesteal item. Sure, it's less expensive than repeatedly buying health potions BUT healing yourself for 25 damage each hit isn't going to do much. I, personally, would rather inflict an additional 100 damage per hit (assuming said target has 2500 health) consistently than depend on healing myself for 100 health over four hits.

Burnout scales AD but adds the bonus as Magic Damage, which I incorrectly listed as AP. What I meant to say, and will clarify, is that most of Shyvana's abilities deal magic damage but don't scale well with AP.

I don't know why you'd downvote this for any other reason than having your own guide, but find it funny that in your alternate items you list all of which I have in my build as viable options.

Kinda squishy for a jungler, for my taste. Sure, you'll say that you have a lot of HP from Frozen Mallet and Warmog's Armor and a little armor from Atma's Impaler, but having no magic resist whatsoever WILL bite you in the ***. Even with over 4k Hp, someone like Veigar, Anivia, Ryze, or even Malzahar(due to his %health damage) will melt you in a second. You don't even have Mercury's Treads on, not good, not good at all.

Another thing I find odd is that even though this is a jungle build, as an intermediate item you don't use Wriggle's Lantern(must have item for a jungler, IMO). You say in the cons section that most of her abilities stack off AP. How is that since she has 2 that stack with AD and two that stack with AP? I see a tie here. Besides, this isn't a con. Champions that do both types of damage are harder to counter than those that deal only one type(ex. Garen or Brand).

To get into details, Flame Breath is an ability which has as main goal the armor reduction debuff, no one ever uses it as a damaging nuke, the AP ratio is so low, it doesn't even matter that it stacks with AP. As for Dragon's Descent, it's an ultimate and as all ultimates it deals a very good flat damage, stacking it with AP is no worry in this case either, but even if it would be worth it, it's still an ability used more for it's utility rather than it's damage. These are the two reasons which make AP completely irrelevant on Shyvana. Adding this fact to the cons seems far-fetched.

P.S. Not only do you not use Wriggle's Lantern at the beginning of the game, but through the entire build you use no life-steal items whatsoever. Seriously? A jungler without life-steal? :|

I'm inclined to disagree with your statement. Phantom Dancer, sure, but Frozen Mallet is almost critical for Shyvana if she hopes to not only slow tankier champions for her carries but take down a fleeing enemy 1v1. It's her only true form of CC - besides the small push from activating Dragon's Descent.

In saying this build lacks Magic Resist, you are correct. I have no magic resist items, but that's because Shyvana gains magic resist passively from her ult and said magic resist doubles when you "DRAGON UP", leaving your magic resist close to 150 at level 18. For an off-tank, I find this to be a very nice chunk of armor, and, as suggested above, if it so happens that there are Particular AP champions ruining your team, you can always pick up Banshee's Veil in lieu of Phantom Dancer.

I don't really agree with Phantom Dancer and Frozen Mallet on Shyvana. build Trinity force instead and after Atma's. if you really feel like you need more movement go with Force of Nature: this build is seriously lacking Magic Resist

I'm going to update this guide this weekend for the patch that came out today - The Volibear patch - as a lot of stupid things have happened to the jungle! :D. Shyvana is on the verge of not being viable in the jungle any longer as it would seem that they're making ganking from the jungle a priority to gain experience and items faster. My point is, without any form of CC, kills can not be guaranteed during a gank, and instead of just shrugging it off, Shyvana now goes back to slaving away in a hot jungle just to turn up underleveled because your experience has been cut. Now, instead of reaching level 3 by the end of wolves>wraiths>double golems, you only just reach level 2 so you have to continuously run wolves>wraiths>double golems to advance in level and kill blue/red, or you can go gank and try to earn a kill but that gets more and more difficult without any CC.

My point being, in a lane, with a constant stream of minions that don't require you to run halfway across the map every minute, Shyvana would be much better. On top of that, the enemy champion HAS to come to you if they want experience as well, so your lack of CC certainly tips in your favor.

Anyway, just thought I'd give a heads up to anyone who was interested!
