Playing ap support
As an ap support you should focus on quick engages. Unless you have presence of mind your qs and ws cost too much mana and are not worth the poke. focus on bush controll with oracle lense and wait until you hit an human e. then you should full combo and spider e out before you tanke too much damage. Always have a look at your spiders since they can help you take less damage while escaping (depending on the matchup). When the early engages are not working then wait for an item or at least parts. You can always roam mid or even help qith herald if your adc can handle the lane. Even if you dont have that much gold you can 1v1 some junglers or catch them off guard. Also when you are getting ganked or are ahead dont hesitate to towerdive. Your spider e is the perfect tool to draw tower aggro and then disengage.
Playing tank support
As an tank elise you can lane and protect your scaling adc verry well with radiant virtude and your e, while scaling with gathering storm. The other way to play is to hard roam in the early game and then lane in the mid game and only roam for good opportunities. Either way your early game is even stronger since your trades with aftershock get punished even less. When building spellthieves, everfrost and tear you can also pole a lot more.
