About Me
Hi, I'm Typhoonflame, a dragon-cat Vtuber and avid mage fan! On my channel, you'll find game reviews and low-elo LoL content!

This guide will also be available on my YouTube, as well as my other socials:

The point of these guides is to document my own LoL journey from low elo and learning along the way. If I could help someone else, it'd be even better!
I hope you enjoy my content, constructive criticism is always welcome!
General Lux Info
Lux is a burst mage with some utility.
She’s mostly played as a support, but she’s equally as deadly midlane. Wherever you pick her, you can expect to oneshot squishes.

Lux is for players who like poking and prodding until they can kill their enemies while remaining useful to their team with more than just damage, staying at range, ARAM-ing midgame, and oneshotting squishy targets later on, while peeling for your other carries.
Gameplay
Lux wants to stay back and poke in the lane phase, proccing her passive after every E hit and only using Q when you’re sure you’ll hit it or need to stop an enemy engage. Make sure not to spam as you’ll run out of mana.

Lux values her farm a lot as a midlaner, as she needs to get to her item spikes ASAP. She doesn’t scale amazingly and thrives in the midgame, so getting to her core items and snowballing lane, be it as supp or mid, should be your goal.

Support has the luxury of being able to build more supportive items if needed, but it’s not recommended.

You should be as aggressive as possible in lane while keeping yourself safe and making sure you’re not spamming abilities. This is a principle you should apply throughout the whole game, as one Lux Q+ E+R combo can oneshot a squishy and severely chunk anyone else. However, you can also be easily killed, so make sure you can deal your damage from a safe position. Lux loves front-to-back fights, ARAMs, and a good frontline behind which she can dish out her damage.
Abilities
Lux’a abilities are straightforward. She may not look like it, but she does have some versatility.

Her passive, Illumination, makes it so her abilities apply a mark that deals bonus damage if detonated. You can detonate it with an auto-attack or your ultimate.

Her Q, Light Binding, is a skillshot which roots up to 2 enemies (and gets blocked by minions, so be careful). You’ll want to max this ability 2nd.

Her W, Prismatic Barrier, is a skillshot which shields every ally it hits, including Lux, then returns back to Lux’s location, applying another shield.

Her E, Lucent Singularity, is a slowing field which stays on the ground for a few seconds and grants vision of the area, then detonates to deal damage. You can activate the ability early to detonate it.
You want to max this ability first. Your E is an incredibly useful tool, don’t forget to use it to check bushes before you walk into darkness!

Her R, Final Spark, is the super-shiny rainbow laser of death, it deals a ton of damage and is used as a poke or finishing tool. It’s useful for stealing or checking objectives.
Runes
Lux’s runes are usually Arcane Comet into Manaflow Band, Transcendence and Scorch, for maximum laning power. For your secondaries, you can go Cheap Shot and Ultimate Hunter, or Biscuit Delivery and Cosmic Insight.

You can also go First Strike as your keystone, but it’s more for scaling and harder to execute. I prefer the raw poke power of Comet myself.

For your shards, AP, AP into scaling Health is your best bet.
Items
As support, I’d recommend you build the Mage support item, Zaz’Zak’s Realmspike.
As mid, start Doran's Ring.

For both roles, start your build with Malignance or Luden's Companion into Horizon Focus and Cryptbloom or Rabadon's Deathcap. This will give you the damage Lux needs to fulfil her role and champ identity as a pokey burst mage.

In accordance with this identity, you should always build Sorcerer's Shoes, and can even rush them.

You can build Void Staff if you need a lot of Magic Penetration, Morellonomicon if you need antiheal and Liandry's Torment if the enemy team has two or more tanks.

Zhonya's Hourglass or Banshee's Veil, if you need defenses, are an option, but as Lux, if you get hit, you’re likely mispositioned and no defensive stats will save you.

You also have the option of Ardent Censer and Staff of Flowing Water, which are viable Lux items, but should only be built if you’re completely behind and only as a support.
