Why do you max out Judgement so late? Judgement is only good at the beginning and middle game so why don't you take advantage of it? Also, tank garen doesn't work. Sure, he can tank, but he has very little CC outside of Decisive Strike. That means enemies have no reason to target Garen. I play Garen by rushing Infinity Edge and Phantom Dancer. Then garen needs some sort of survivability in this part of the game, so get a Warmog's Armor. since AD Garen will get lots of CS with his judgement. After having your first 2 offensive items, I usually go off tank Garen, but if i'm destroying, I might go pure AD Garen. Good guide though +1!

Thank you for your feedback, but it seems you haven't tried the build out Lorentz, not with the proper runes, you actually deal a lot of damage late game, and maxing E makes your mid game start falling, with balanced lvling of Q and E you can get decent damage all over the game, i had a lot of success running this build, and it worked especially well with Darius,Lee Sin or Maokai in my jungle, i will add this on the guide later, tanky junglers with sort of cc works really well with this guy, i ask you, if you don't have AD per lvl runes, instead Arpen ones, try to change Last whisper for an Infinity edge, the results will be pretty much the same, and you will still feel a good damage output through all the stages of game, just try it :)

Yes, you it actually works. As he said, garen doesn't have much CC therefore exhaust would help. One thing though, atma's impaler would be a great addition to tank garen

Nice build, but scaling runes of attack damage? Those only take effect mid or late game, and will play little role into a build like this. Why not quints of movespeed, then normal boots to make up for the difference

Now, I wouldn't at all say boots of swiftness are the worst, but there are certainly better choices, considering all the substitutes for there are. Nice build, but there are a few adjustments.

Now, Garen isn't the best option for a tank simply because he as no CC, and if you build him as a tank he needs his ult to deal any damage. Judgement should be an ability that people fear, which for the most of solo tops, it's a hassle. An off-tank Garen would work, simply because you have more damage, and you'll give them a reason to focus you.

You will really want to be faster then that 50hp Renekton to smash his reptile body with a giant sword, thats why i have chosen boots of swiftness, it also helps you dealing full judgment damage instead of getting outrunned and spinning on the air.

Why get boots of swiftness over ninja tabi or mercury's treads, boots of swiftness are the worst boots in the game.

Can you stay out of my games please?
If you think someone with no peel, very very limited CC and no engage at all can tank, you're just an idiot, garen has absolutely no tank qualities and two physical scaling damage abilities with extremely good ratios.

It does, if people are dumb enough to focus you, Otherwise they walk past you as you have no CC to be threatening when building full tank gear...

tank garen with boots of swiftness.

Ehm... no.

lets start with the obvious, swiftness cost 650 gold to upgrade from boots 1, ninja tabi cost 500 and give 10% damage reduction, take the armour out of their recipe and thats 200 gold for 1 tier of movement speed and 10% physical reduction.
You spend 650 gold for two tiers of movement speed instead of that? and on a champion who is naturally very fast? sorry you're wrong.

Next is tank garen.

Now garen has pretty ok base, but its base physical so it scales badly against armour since armour always goes up per level and its generally cheap.
So buying damage is imperetive to keep yourself relevant, you also have only one utility spell, a short silence and a tonne of natural resistance.
I'd say one or two defensive items is pretty much a given, but to be mostly defensive, that's an open invitation to be a useless sack of meat come late game.

oh and garen is a tanky DPS, not a tank or an offtank, he has no hard CC, no peel and no defense to offense scaling, he's a damage dealer primarily.

oh and why max Q over E, E does way more damage and Q is mostly for the silence.

Good start, but I'd suggest a more offensive build because Garen lacks any sort of utility at all outside the ways of killing things. :p Infinity Edge! And Sunfire Aegis for moar AoE.
