Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Hello to you all.
This is my first submission :D
So go easy on me :P
This guide is to detail (Small detail) on a combat/Tank Garen.
I hope you find this guide east to follow and feedback is greatly welcomed.
Garen the Combat/Tank:
This build mainly focuses on Damage but has a tone of defense to keep you going a long time with out basing to much. The main Idea is to hit hard and survive and if needed tank.
Garen works really well early and mid game but suffers a bit late game.
All Damage with 9 points in Defense
you can vice versa the Mastery for better defenses and still manage to dish out some hits
The Runes are all damage a crit runes with Armor Pen since Garen is all bout Physical damage Armor Pen is to good to pass up.
Ignite: Nice anti healing and damage. Using the ability will help you get closer to your Ultimate and is a nice partner to your Judgment Ability
Exhaust: Once again a great ability against casters and real good combo with your Judgment and Ultimate abilities. Also work well with other champs to get the kill on elusive targets.
Ninja Tabi: This is a nice item to have mind you any Movement speed item is great so it up to you. I chose this once as it has armor and dodge will will help mitigate damage and if you dodge (depending on your Masteries) you get a small boost in speed
You can also get boots os Swiftness or Berserkers Greaves.
Randuin's Omen: This should be the second item to get CD reduction HP and Regen. The Regen plus Garens passive work very well, this will keep you in the lane much long take a bit more punishment and survive longer, the slowing proc if great if being chased or focused as it will give you the much need time to counter attack or run like hell. The Active is also a must slowing all targets in an area for you to kill or for another Champ to help bring down. In in a group fight where the enemy is chasing or running can really hurt then as it will allow hard hitting AOE champs to take advantage and do some damage before they kill you or get out of range (Many a time has this saved my butt and turned the tide in a fight. Watching them get slowed trapped then blown up)
Next Atma's Impaler and a Sunfire Cape
Warmogs: Another great Tank and survival item more Hp more HP regen (once again passive YAY) and more HP and regen for kills you will never have to base again :D)
the 6th item: is all up to you and what you are fighting.
Atma's Impaler: for more armor and crit and the extra damage with all the HP you will have
Frozen Mallet: for Much more HP and damage with a slowing proc.
Infinity Edge for Crazy Crits and more Damage
Starks Favor: for more group utility
You can damage and tank all wrapped into once *** kicking package
So early game:
Get yer boots
then work on the Shield
Atams and Sunfure and a start on Warmogs
Late Game Chose your item and go to it Tank, kill and Win
