Introduction

Hello!
I am DonDiavlo a Gold Urgot Main, playing him constantly since he got reworked.
I decided to make an Urgot Guide because I myself had many misconseptions about Urgot when I first layed my hands on him. So I wanted to clear everything up for people who are thinking about picking up Urgot!

Let's start with the masteries.
You want to take Fervor of Battle with Urgot since it is the best Keystone for him.
Urgot himself might even be the best Fervor of Battle user in the game.
You wanna also go Battle Trance since you will fight the people quite a bit and the extra damage is for a bruiser like Urgot very nice to see.
In the Cunning Tree you are going for Assassin (you can go Secret Stash , if you aren't that well at mana management) and Merciless . Merciless is very important since it is important to hit people fast below 25% of their health so you can setup Fear Beyond Death.

Summoners

So you wanna take Teleport on top, which is self explanatory a standart Summ for toplaners
and as second you wanna go Ghost. So why Ghost?
You want to take Ghost because it syngergises with your kit and Urgot very well.
You can escape or chase very good, you can proc your Shotgun stacks very fast and you can postion yourself very good for your E(which I'm talking later about).
You can take even Ghost + Flash but I wouldn't recommend it in a Matchup where you are poked away from your lane and need your farm like Heimerdinger.

For the Runes, you wanna go Lethality in theMarks and Quints, Lethality is very good on Urgot because Echoing Flames deals more damage Overall and Corrosive Charge which is his only Poke tool in the lane.
Scaling Health in the Seals since the Shield you get from Purge scales with health and it helps you therefore surviving longer.
Scaling Magic Resist in Glyphs should be self explanatory.
But I would recommend you going Full AD in Marks and Quints when you'r fighting against Matchups like tanks especially Malphite since they need to buy armor anyway and if they rush something like Thornmail you'll be pretty ****ed with lethality.

Abilities

Passive-Echoing Flames
So this Passive is what makes Urgot so strong. It scales with your Level and your AD.
at level 18 you make 8% of the targets health with one shotgun as physical damage.
6 Legs = 48% Health damage + Armorshred from The Black Cleaver = GG
Q-Corrosive Charge
Corrosive Charge is your one and only poke tool in lane and the first Ability you want to max,
sine you are running Lethality it works very good with it, the base Damage is sadly very low on first levels but later you can deal a good amount of damage with it. You want to use it mainly when your enemy laner tries to farm, later in the game you use it for waveclear or in normal fights.
W-Purge
So before we start talking about this ability, let's talk about a misconseption many peope have. Purge IS NOT YOUR MAIN DAMAGE TOOL, IT IS USED AS AN UTILITY TOOL!!!
But why is that you may ask yourself. You only use Purge to use all of your shotguns very fast(in combination with Ghost)and your Fervor of Battle stacks + The Black Cleaver. If you see that you can't use the other shotguns from Echoing Flames or you have used all of them, then don't stay in Purge jut recast it since it slows you and the mini autoattacks aren't worth it you are better with auto attacking normally.
If you are getting chased and wanna shield yourself then cast the ability and instantly recast it since the Shield won't go off when you recast it.
E-Disdain
What to say about Disdain... it is basically a bad dashgrab but it's use is abnormally good, when you start playing Urgot it might feel clunky at the beginning but you will get a feeling for it. You can run up to people with Ghost or if you slowed them with Corrosive Charge before you can't even miss it since the slow is more then enough to hit it. The Reason why you skill this Abilitie first is, because in Matchups like Nasus, you wanna shoot of your first 3 forward Shotguns and then hit them with Disdain and shoot of the other ones, you may be able to get first blood like that or just take the enemys flash out.
Don't worry about the dash being stoped, it has super armor so it just will jump through many abilites like Ahri Charm.
R-Fear Beyond Death
Basically the most fun Ult in the game.
There isn't much to say about the Ult, it executes the enemy if he goes below 25% and the Harpoon is impaled. You wanna hit Fear Beyond Death in Midfight if you know you will take them down 25% before they Flash away or you can shoot it at the end with the risk the enemy dodges it, but it has a pretty good range and fears everyone from the enemy team near you which is helpfull if a jungler ganks your lane and you manage to kill the laner or the jungler with it so you can flee.

Items

So last but not least the Items!
Doran's Blade: Classic starting Item you will go this mainly but you could also go Doran's Shield but I would still recommend you Doran's Blade

Boots of Speed: Ninja Tabi or Mercury's Treads well, not much to say about these. Just pick what fits the enemy team the most.

The Black Cleaver: You wanna Rush Cleaver as fast as you can because you need every stat from it + the Cleaver stacks are pretty fast on the target and it gives you a Massive Damage boost.

Frozen Mallet: After Cleaver you want to go Mallet, you need the HP and AD from it (Again you scale with all stats from this item) the slow from it helps you chasing people and makes it easier to use all the shotguns in combination with Purge.

Sterak's Gage: The Shield it gives you is a nice thing to have since it helps you surviving in teamfights(it also scales with your health) and this item is essential to have since it is like Mallet and Cleaver an Item that gives you the stats you need the most.

Late Game Tank options: So in my Opinion is Thornmail pretty damn good since it increases your Armor massivley and the effects are very good, you can go Randuin's Omen if the Crits from the ADC are to heavy to deal with for ex. Draven+ the slow is good to stay on peoples side and Dead Man's Plate is also nice since the extra movement speed and first auto attack buff is a nice thing to have. For AP I like to go Adaptive Helm if the Enemys have a spammy AP Damage Source and Spirit Visage if the spsecial case isn't true.

Situational Items: So you should only buy those Items if the enemy team is like Full AP or AD or focusing you hard.

Special Cases: If the enemy team has alot of AP Damage or nearly full AD go a Tank Item Second.
