Why Gwen mid ?
Gwen Mid is really good in the mid lane espacially with Rod Of Ages and the new buffs to it.
you rarely get countered by the mid laner, meaning you can get fed and snowball the game.
you can win almost any lane solo, but an early ganking jungler will help.

How to play early
Gwen's lvl 1 is still powerfull even if it got nerfed
so you still can kill most laners with all in lvl 1 or 2
you poke/ trade with: E forward + Q max + AA,
helping you to eventually dive the enemy or kill them
if you're against someone who plays really safe and has slow pushing power you can look to roam Bot or Top

Power Spike
You will start to feel really powerful and unkillabe just by maxing Rod of Ages
if you are fed enough and can buy nashors the game is done.

Mid Game, and late
Gwen has a really strong push, and if taken lightly she can abuse that to dystroy the enemy laner. you can hard push when the enemy laner is roaming or doing an objective so you trade objectives with them.
Also not only Gwen is strong at pushing, she is a maniac when it comes to dueling and 1 v 2 or sometimes 1 v 3.
she is useful at team fights but her abilities aren't that AOE.
so its better to stick to duelling.
