Not Updated For Current Season

I started playing shaco when I first got lol and have loved him ever since. While I mostly play ad shaco, ap shaco can be alot of fun and annoying as **** for the other team. I like to get teleport and ignite for spells. teleport so you can get back to your lane quick and ignite for that last hit in case you need it. As I will mention later, this shaco will not carry very well. He will however scare the other team and keep your team well fed. Shaco has 3 ap abilities which makes him great for tower diving!
Untill mobafire gets the newest items into their builds, sub sorcerers shoes for the new cooldown shoes and and zhonya's ring for the new zhonya's hat.

if you are not sure you can survive than do not get mejai's. I would go deathfire first and then move right into the build without mejai's. No item build is flawless, if you are running out of mana than go for archangel. Feeling overly squishy than get Rylai's crystal scepter. This shaco build is not really meant to die, it is very easy to escape especially since you will be hovering around your jib nests.
Early game is when I have the most fun with this character. Shaco is great for running around and setting up jib's. Grab the blue buff, hit lvl 2, and head to your lane. It's time start your personal fortress. I personally like to set up my first nest of jib's in the bushes that sit in the water towards mid. this allows for continued xp gain while laying jib's. Try not to let the other team see where you are laying your jib's by standing in the grass anytime one is layed. Never set up boxes in the same spot early game. People tend to figure out what you are doing. Once you get to lvl 6 or 7 it's time to start kill hunting. Try setting up in those same bushes but on the other side of the map, most the time you can get a quick kill or 2 from this while still getting some xp.
By mid game you will notice that people are starting to become afraid of the pushes. At this time I like to set up jib's in choke points that aren't grass. Right in front of the dragon or near buffs are great places to get jib's and are really nice for getting kills. Also, coordinate with your team to ambush with jib's. that aoe fear can be a make or break in team fights and a nice fortress of jib's is always nice too.
By late game you will start to notice that people are ready to nuke where they think your jib's are just to clear out a nest. I use this fear to my advantage by setting up a nest and then setting up one more in an obvious place just so they think they are safe. If you are winning the game, buffs are going to be a bad place to set up. I like to set up from the lane into the inside of the other teams wall and then deceive in to lure them to my jib's. Once again never use the same location for a nest. People are smart (for the most part) and will wise up to your nest locations. Now, if you are losing late game its time to turn things around for you team. Because at this time your jib's will burn down almost any other hero in seconds, its time to set up some traps. I like to baron bait and burn down a tank or several squishy champs. But you can also set up at your buffs and wait. And they will come for you buffs, no doubt about it, you just need to be waiting for them when they come. If you have a bad team imo ap shaco is not a carry, he is a trap master. You aren't going to be able to jump into a team fight and nuke the **** out of the other team. If you want to do that play another character. This build is meant to frustrate and confuse the other team enough so your team can win the game.
