Jarvan IV is an efficient ganker and support tank. He can be used to secure ganks, absorb damage mid game, and nuke late game. He isn't hard to pick up and after a few games I started to rack up some seriously nice scores. After you gain experience and become efficient with his flag and spear combo, know when to use your shield, and even more importantly, when to use your ult (which often separates a good J4 and a great J4) you can use Jarvan to turn the tide of a game.

Dragon Strike - You shoot a skill shot javelin type weapon forward at a somewhat short distance, if it connects with your flag (e spell) then you shoot to it and knock up any enemies close enough. Used mostly to knock up your enemies and escaping early game. Later game can actually put out some decent damage

Golden Aegis - Slows all enemies around you and shields you. This is nice when you charge into the center of a team with your q, e combo.

Demacian Standard - Throw a flag, dealing damage wheere it hits. You get bonus attack speed and armor if you're close enough, AND you can use your q spell to jump to it, knocking back enemies in your path !

Cataclysm - you jump to a target, creating a pit in a nice area where they cant run out of (but can flash and other things of that nature out of it). Nice for securing or setting up a gank. Knowing when to use this spell and on who is soooooo important. Pay attention to who has abilities to get out of the pit and who has their flash up. There's nothing more satisfying then when their carry thinks he got out of a team fight when he flashes away then just jumping on them and melting their faaaaaaacceeeeeeee

Start out with W, carry on from there

Start out with a Cloth Armor and 5 x Health Potion's
Go through the jungle path until you have to go back or you finish your path.
Buy Madred's Razors and grab Boots for faster jungling and better ganks. How much money you have will decide which you get first ^^
Finish Wriggle's Lantern
Buy a Heart of Gold for durability and some extra gold
Mercury's Treads
Then purchase The Brutalizer for sum extra damageioooooo
I like to go for Randuin's Omen next because this is around the time that team fights start to break out and the use effect for Randuin's plus your w is too nice in team fights.
You get Youmuu's Ghostblade before Randuin's if you want to, but if you got Omen first get ghostblade next
Finish up with Frozen Mallet and Atma's Impaler

If you can get maybe two people to help you get blue buff right off the bat you should do that then follow the jungle pattern. I usually go (blue), wolves, wraiths, double golems, blue, red, etc.

Try and gank at any available opportunity. Throw your flag, dragon strike to it, shield and auto attack. When you get your ultimate, open up with it, throw your flag behind the person and dragon strike immediately (like while the flag is in the air, it still works), then complete the combo

Stay wit the squishies on your team. In team fights, make sure you save your ult for the right time, whether its jumping on someone who peeks out a little to far, or if your carry is getting chased and about to die, or even just isolating a key target on the enemy team. Pop your w on as many people as you can, and don't forget to use randuin's when you have it either!

Jarvan has the ability to be very aggressive through out all phases of the game which is one reason I really like him. Don't be afraid to initiate with your R if someone pokes out too far. Use your flag, dragon strike combo to shoot through walls or run away. Always remember to pop your Randuin's and Youmuu's in team fights, they really make a big difference.
