This build is designed for high armor to take advantage of the brutal strikes bonus and ground slam damage from armor, you will also have good cooldown reduction allowing you to use skills quickly and your ultimate every 48 seconds.

There is no AP or Mana regeneration, however, so you might have to be a little careful with spending but that will not be much of a concern later on.

I have had very good results with this build allowing me to chase down almost anyone and to be able to get kills as well as assists while dying very little. After changing to add ignite to the list I have been able to take out a few squshies unaided in just a few seconds R,W,E,Q,Ignite.

Granite Shield - Your passive ability a nice little damage absorber, not as good as Mordekaiser's but still nice if you move back to let it recharge early on. Basically like having 10% extra health. I favor dodge for runes over armor because you can dodge an attack that might damage you an interrupt the recharge of Granite Shield.

Seismic Shard - I feel this is an important skill to level first, even though I don't depend on the damage it does the movement steal can be very important for pursuit and even escapes. Can be used on minions and monsters to get a little speed if no champions are around of course, if not you are stuck being a little slow.

Brutal Strikes - I chose this second to level because of its passive to damage an area of enemies, to include champions. It can allow you to hit champions while worrying about minions if they happen to get close, it also allows you to deal with minions faster than trying to use skills and preserves your mana. Activating this gives you attack damage and armor, good for boosting when you are attacking a turret or just before Ground Slam for its armor addition.

Ground Slam - While I do consider this the main damager for this build I don't really level it early. I primarily use it after in the initiation combo with Unstoppable Force, Brutal Strikes, Ground Slam. It can also be used to clear out clusters of minions. At level 18 your ground slam should be doing as much as other people's ultimate attacks with a much shorter cooldown and in an area.

Unstoppable Force - Great ability for engaging the enemy, and can be used to escape in a pinch. You are able to move through walls with this ability and it has a good range. It is not instant however so you might undershoot your target if you aim for the edge of them, but thats about luck more than them being able to react in time.

Charge in with Unstoppable Force, power up with Brutal Strikes, hurt them with Ground Slam, and use Seismic Shard to slow them down and finish them off. If pursuing with auto attack and your normal strikes you may have to manually move forward to hit them with Ground Slams as its range will usually miss a running champion.

I start with a Rejuvenation Bead, I don't really like potions and its used for something later on, will help you stay in the lane a long time if you take advantage of your Granite Shield when able. I follow with Ninja Tabi which seem like an obvious choice as they add armor and dodge with the movement speed and are fairly cheap. Heart of Gold is the next most important purchase as it helps you afford your other items.

With the gold generation of the Heart of Gold I get the Warden's Mail to get the increased regeneration and Unique Passive. I hold off on getting Randuin's Omen because you will lose the gold generation from the Heart of Gold and it doesn't do much more than the other two items combined with the exception of its activated ability which I don't really use. Its not that I am saying its not good, its just one more button I don't really think about using. If you feel you would be using it then buy it earlier because if it will help you kill you will get more gold that way. Frozen heart reduces cooldown times and gives plenty more armor as well as slowing your enemies. Guardian Angel of course can keep you from dying but mostly you need a little magic resistance.

Most games will end before you finish Thorn Mail and with all that defense I am not sure if it really would return that much damage, but it seems to have the highest defense of anything else in the game. I finally finish Randuin's Omen at this point having bought all but the last item and a game lasting this long is probably a forgone conclusion. Atma's Impaler is tacked on at the end just because it gives you some offense while still adding yet more defense.

Tiamat is an interesting item to use for Malphite as well, but this build doesn't focus as much on his attack damage but it does stack with his passive from brutal strikes and makes clearing minions a breeze.

Dodge will of course help you avoid attacks, but will also allow Granite shield to recharge more often Magic penetration lets your magic pierce your enemies defenses and its your primary source of killing power. The magic resist is just to make up for the overall lack of magic resistance and there isn't a lot else in that which is helpful and primary that would have much effect.
