Ryze one of the easiest matchups imo hes got way shorter range than you and cant rush early mr as he needs stacking items. bully him out of farm and kill him at lvl 6.

Hi im VOIDHORIZON a silver 3 malzahar main trying to climb out of elo hell this guide is to try and help others dominate the lower elo with one of the most cheese mid laners out there, This is also my first guide so apologies for the poor formatting as i am still getting used to the guide creation, any feedback helps a ton, thanks in advance.

Why play malz?

Well its quite simple... in low elo people simply do not know how to deal with him/dont know what he does. Malzahar punishes poor positioning on YOUR side and your enemy, he teaches how to position well and punishes even the smallest slip up in your opponents positioning and in lower elo people are basically always out of position (adc infront of the tanks happens to often) allowing you to dominate low elo soloQ... or dynamicQ or whatever the hell it is that we have.

Passive: Summon Voidling

This passive on ap malz is mostly just for early game harass they dont do much damage late game. However occasionally they may block a skillshot or two and can even save your life. On the contrary if you have multiple voidlings up that are standing next to you they can actually block you and get you killed also be careful of brand as his ult will bounce between you and your voidling... which hurts... alot.

Q: Call of the Void
This spell is one of the few remaining silences in the game giving you a huge advantage vs most mid laners... as long as you can land it. As much as this spell is pretty difficult to hit it has a great reward for doing so, not only does it have insaneley high base damage and 80% ap ratio it silences (in an aoe) for up to 3 seconds which is enough to completely remove a mage or ability based assassin from a teamfight. As for dueling its not necessary to land in a combo, but it certainly helps.

W: Null Zone
This spell creates a zone of "negative engergy" which deals % max hp magic damage per second over 5 seconds which allows malz to melt tanks with ease. This doesn't do much until later on in the game so dont worry about using it too much in lane however it doesn't have a cast time so you may aswell use it when going in for a combo as they are forced to stand in it because of your ult. However when it does get to late game my got this hurts with 700 ap at lvl 18 this will deal 6% + 7% of anyone's max hp in magic damage with your ult keeping them in it for 2.5 seconds you will deal around 32.5% of a tanks hp in just 2.5 seconds... not even including your other abilities. combine this with a void staff and their tanks will fall at your feet.

E: Malefic Visions aka Space aids
This is the spell you'll be using most not only is it some ofthe most annoying lane harass and zoning in the whole game it is also one of the best pushing abilities in the game, with some ap this will clear waves by its self since it has a 80% ap ratio. It also adds a huge amount of damgage when combined with w and ult which is ususally enough to kill and midlaner at lvl 6.
What you want to do early game is thin the wave with auto attacks then put you e on the lowest minion and allow it to spread through the wave refunding mana all while zoning any mele mid laner off the wave. when you have your passive stacked up consider putting it on your lane opponent so the voidling will chase them in circles and usually force them back into their tower while taking a large chunk of their hp bar off them.
REMEMBER: always use this in a combo with your ult or it usually wont be enough to kill your target in the early game.

R: Nether Grasp
Basically what you do is you pin someone down for 2.5 seconds dealing a ton of magic damage + 130% over the 2.5 seconds. This spell has pretty silly damage by its self however when you combine it with your other abilities it adds up for one hell of a combo that unless they have a qss and/or is gangplank has basically no counterplay and will most likely kill the target. This is also a pretty good way to peel an assasin of yourself or your adc.
Tip: you can use ignite while ulting just make sure it is in range or youll cancel your ult.
Tip: if someone tries to dive you dont bother sitting up a combo just ult them in the early levels 2.5 seconds standing under tower is enough to kill most champions.
WARNING: In teamfights DONT try and dive on their adc just stay back and full combo the first thing that tries to jump on you or your adc. If you do ult their adc you will become a living pinata and most likely will die before anything happens.

Basically you wanna put every spell you have to use. open the combo by putting your w underneath the target then put your e on them then place your q slightly behind them as that is where they are likely to run then ult. if you are in range of them use ignite. It is also relatively easy to perform this with flash to surprise your opponent.

A Standard combo should look something like this:
