Master Yi Build
Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
This build needs some more work, but it works pretty well, its a good blend of AD/AS with some survivability. It was also intended for 3v3 more then 5v5. I don't really play Yi in 5v5, I feel as if there are much better options. But if played right, Yi owns 3v3.
1. Vampiric Scepter - Usually I don't agree with life steal items, however Yi rocks life steal, It also helps him stay in a lane as long as possible and jungle.
2. Berserker'Greaves - Boots should always be determined by the team your fighting, If the team is CC heavy grab merc's, If they're DPS heavy, grab Ninja Tabi.
3. Starks - Get this if your team can utilize it as well, if not replace it for Malady. With starks you'll have great health regen and life steal. Your speed should be pretty good to start considering ganks.
4. Infinity Edge - Grab BF sword first if you can, You'll become a tower killing machine. Squishy champs wont stand a chance once you finish it.
The next few items could be switched out at any time. Depending on how the games being played, you should build according to what will benefit the most. For an example, if your not dying that much, don't worry about frozen mallet.
Phantom Dancer - No one will outrun you. You'll crit like crazy and hit like a truck. It also helps you with a little dodge chance.
Bloodthirster - Wanna hit harder? Heres your answer.
Frozen Mallet - Getting beat up? Take some HP, and a little bonus damage. The passive will make no one escape your hits. Also feel free to grab this earlier then IE if your getting killed to often.
Other Items to consider -
Black Cleaver - If there team is tank heavy, this should help out a bit.
Last Whisper - Same as black cleaver, also feel free to take this in place of Malady/Starks.
Youmuu's - A great early item. Give some crit, and damage and doubles your Ultimate.
Thornmail - Ok this is in a rare case. If your getting stomped and the opposing team is very Melee DPS heavy, grab this. This works well with Meditate.
First try to grab Mid, Put a point into Wuju Style and wait for the minions to spawn. Farm until your lvl 2, then try to gank. Most of the time, Champs will attack until they realize they cant kill Yi, when they try to run exhaust/alpha strike them for the kill. Get a couple of levels and harass as much as possible. Jungle for HP/gold.
Start Ganking. If you jungle enough, the opposing team will start to not call your MIA's. Let your team know to let them push a little. Run up behind the squishiest one, Wuju style > Alpha Strike, When they try to run > Highlander. Also take some time to dominate some towers. If the opposing team is going 3v2 in a land trying to push. Let your team D, and go knock a free tower out. By this time in the game you should be completing your IE. You can solo dragon now, so grab all the buffs you can.
If the game lasts this long, you'll probably carry to victory. You can't be left alone against a tower, no one can go 1v1 cause you'll destroy them. Just push when you can, and try to gank. Yi is amazing at getting triple kills.
More to come soon.
