Who am I?
I'm a masters sett gamer that's knockin' on GM at the moment. We follow the strict top lane bushido code and strive to be challenger in the coming years.

What is the Top Lane Bushido Code?
It goes like this:
Melee top lane good. Strong. Manly.
Ranged top lane? Fake. Disgusting. Filthy.
Some champions in the top lane lie in between these two realms. I've heard aatrox described as "the closest to ranged one can be while being melee" while jayce/gnar described as "the closest to melee one can be while being ranged". To be frank, I disdain playing against any of these and think they should be sent to the shadow realm.
There are certain matters of respect in the toplane, the range from which one can attack being one of them.
The most ardent followers of the top lane bushido code refuse to build grievous wounds. This is, however, at the cost of their own lp so I would suggest against acting like this. Looking at you, Jacob.
At a basic level, there's a sort of respect between top laners unmatched by the other roles. This respect can be violated by a number of factors including ganks from either jungler to straight up toxicity. However, in most games, top laners can understand to a higher extent than others what parts of the game they ****ed up and what parts they had no control over. This understanding between players can lead to much greater camaraderie than possible in other roles. We're in it for good time, and the best lanes involve beating each other over and over or just AFK farming for 20 minutes. Ofc, there are volatile games but the intricacies of interactions between those of the toplane master race can't be accurately described by mere words.
On the other hand, we have the junglers, who always hate each other, the mid laners who also despise each other, the supports who despise their adcs and the adcs who despise their supports.

Sett is Broken
Stop deluding yourself into thinking that Sett's not broken. Your performance on this champion depends entirely on your mental. Stop looking at the statistics because most people are bad and you're better than most people. Even if you don't think Sett is broken, convince yourself that he is because it's true. If you're really having trouble doing this, why the **** are you playing Sett? Seriously? Do you find it fun playing what you think is a garbage champion? I mean seriously, because you need to find out why you enjoy playing Sett and really go into that. Is it the early game 1v1 potential? Is it his insane team fight potential? Notice how he has both? Notice how that's ****ing op?
Know Your Weaknesses and Strengths.
With time, you'll come to understand that certain top laners just outscale you in 1v1s but that's okay. You do MUCH more damage in teamfights and have a lot more utility. In most dueling matchups, you get outscaled 1v1 around the 20-30 minute mark.
With the recent buffs to your W and Ult, your late game is more viable than it was at the start of season so you can match some more duelists than before. Knowing exactly who is a matter of personal experience.
All of that's fine if you just take agency of the game with the early game power you have and turn the enemy into a cannon minion.
They can't outscale you if they ragequit :)

How to Play :)
Your job as a top laner is to apply pressure with your very presence.
Assuming you're already capable of farming and trading adequately,
In the early game, you want to apply pressure on your laner and the enemy jungler by hard shoving, baiting ganks, and surviving them. You have a lot of agency in this time so you want to abuse it by making the enemy depressed. You can easily deny cs/exp against most laners by just walking up and threatening to fight them. If they take the fight then you win. In this way, you build a lead that forces them to stay away from you forever.
By mid to late game, you want to start applying pressure to other parts of the map.
You can do this in three big ways (there are many more nuances and such but in general)
You can splitpush to force enemy players to decide between giving you towers(and give up and objective) or go for the objective. Splitting properly relieves pressure from your team and if the enemy doesn't respond to your split then you can take the towers or deny cs/exp or both. You should also have tp to join the fight for the objective if it looks necessary.
You can also be off the map. This creates pressure in the way that the enemy doesn't know where you are and has to be careful about where they step.
Finally, you can be on the map, with your team. This is where you shine most because sett's teamfight capabilities are incredible. He has the unique ability to not only displace the enemy frontline but also CC and potential one shot the enemy backline at the same time. A single good sett ult combo can end the game/turn the tides even if you've been inting the entire time. Don't be a coward. Go in.
