Matchup mania is a project designed to help give large amounts of information regarding champion matchups for a specific champion. With an easy to access layout, as well as specific criteria to help you understand the specifics and nuances of playing against certain champions. One thing to note that is that the Matchup mania series focuses much more on kit composition rather than build. Depending on how certain people play certain champions, the information here may not be as relevant as it could be. It is also worth noting that number tuning will not really be accounted for here, due to the sporadic nature of League of legends balancing, but rather, again a kit analysis. The values of abilities might drop or raise a champion a difficulty level or two, so keep current balance in mind when using Matchup mania information.

EASY
Easy matchups are those that should be a solid victory to you, as your kit should be much stronger than your opponents, meaning unless there is a clear-cut difference in skill level against you, then any lane with these opponents, while not a guaranteed victory, would be the most likely to come out with victory in the end.
STANDARD
Standard matchups are those that will more likely than not result in victory for the more skillful opponent, while some may be slightly in favor, or against, most usually skill will decide who wins these matchups specifically. Play the lane for a short while, and see where you sit, then decide how you will play these matchups.
DIFFICULT
Difficult matchups are those that will see you more likely than not end up in defeat, as this rating denotes champions who have kits that either specifically counter your own, or generally strong kits for dueling or fighting (I'm looking at you Vayne.) It would be recommended to play defensively and hope you have a competent team to help you out.

Some things to note...
  • Once completed, this guide will only be updated to accommodate either kit redesigns or new champion introductions into the league. Remember that the guide focuses on ability and kit composition over raw stats.

  • This guide is designed with the most meta-friendly way to play the champion listed. While I'm sure some more offshoot builds will still be relevant, building the champion drastically differently, or changing how the champion is played compared to their usual playstyle will make the information less helpful, please keep this in mind.

  • As with all things, all things this guide are at a level of subjectivism. I hope to try and keep the Matchup mania series to a more objective standard, however, there will always be some level of subjectivity in regards of what people consider more difficult than others. (I know I tilt against Yasuo more than I should.)

  • All ratings are created with the idea that the two champions in the scenario are in the same lane for a good amount of time, and while not applicable to all situations, ability comparison still stands, while more regenerative focused comments may not be as potent or noticeable in single skirmishes.

Camille - The Steel Shadow

Camille is a quite strong fighter, able to deal large amounts of damage with high in fight mobility and good crowd control. With Adaptive Defenses Camille can fight single opponents more effectively with a large shield, with the drawback of only blocking one kind of damage, Precision Protocol helps deal larger amounts of damage, as well as converting a percentage of it to true damage under the correct circumstances. Tactical Sweep helps with sustain as well as soft CC. Hookshot and Wall Dive give Camille huge in fight mobility, as well as a strong stun and huge attack speed steroid. Hextech Ultimatum is a great ultimate allowing more or less an arena to allow for small area based fights.

Camille's overall mastery curve comes with being able to position around enemies properly, as well as understand how to properly use Hookshot as well as when to use it for what purposes, such as if it should be held onto to stop an ability, or if it should be used to engage to allow for maximum damage output quickly, or even to escape, especially over walls. Another skill that can be extremely useful is being able to use Hextech Ultimatum's small window of un-targetability to be able to dodge large amounts of damage.

Aatrox
The Darkin Blade

Aatrox is a champion that if given the chance to constantly fight with you, he will end up most likely beating you, using Blood Thirst to keep his health up during encounters. However, Aatrox is particularly easy to beat due to the fact that the way Aatrox can fight is so binary, it's easy to outright outplay him at every turn. Sheesh, his Dark Flight gives you an aiming reticule to land Wall Dive, as well as in short skirmishes, Adaptive Defenses makes trading effectively easily. The only way that Aatrox will every bring any hard difficulty is when Aatrox is left to farm for more or less an entire game, as with items, Aatrox does indeed become a force to be fought against. When it comes down to it, Aatrox's abilities pose no threat to Camille, with one ability more or less making landing a stun easier. However, do not let Aatrox farm up to the point of nigh indestructibility.

// Tips and advice
(!) Level Hookshot first, make sure you can abuse Aatrox early in lane
(!) Wait for Aatrox's Blood Well revive to pass before you use Hextech Ultimatum, the respawn animation can take some time, allowing Aatrox to escape an early Hextech Ultimatum

Ahri
The Nine Tailed Fox

Ahri as a champion is not super problematic, but you will need to outplay to have overall success here. The constant health regeneration Ahri gains from Essence Theft makes hard poke difficult, as well as her range makes her much more free to poke than Camille is. Orb of Deception is also problematic, due to the true damage it deals on return, making Adaptive Defenses less potent than other matchups. Fox-Fire also gives Ahri another avenue for poking opportunities. However, Camille's extremely potent in combat mobility means that Charm becomes a difficult skill to land for Ahri. Hextech Ultimatum also makes Spirit Rush much less of an escape tool for Ahri. If Camille is ahead, Ahri has no chance, while if Ahri is ahead, Camille can still have chances at victory, so don't play too safe, take risks and see how well you can defeat your opponent.

// Tips and advice
(!) Level Hookshot first, the lower cooldown helps with mobility against Ahri
(!) Try to predict when Ahri will try to use Spirit Rush to escape, Hextech Ultimatum may stop the escape, but it only has so much range, catch that fox before she scurries away.

Akali

Akali can be a pain to many champions due to her huge in fight mobility. However, with Camille, that ability is not only equalized through Hookshot, but is outshined due to the stun and attack speed that comes with that mobility. However, Akali is no pushover, and can still get the upper hand. Twin Disciplines make's Akali much more unpredictable during trades due to the healing and damage that can come out of nowhere at times. Akali can pump out impressive damage with Mark of the Assassin, Crescent Slash and Shadow Dance, however with Shadow Dance, the fact that this makes Akali come to Camille is quite dangerous in Akali's case. However, Akali's big win against Camille is the Twilight Shroud, as this allows Akali to hide from a majority of Camille's damage, bar Tactical Sweep, even making Hextech Ultimatum less effective.

// Tips and advice
(!) Level Precision Protocol against Akali, as this will disuade Akali from hard engaging on you, or if she does, she's in for a world of hurt.
(!) Try to bait out Twilight Shroud before using Hextech Ultimatum, as the shroud will render any damage that can come from the ability useless.
