Mordekaiser is the type of character that has two builds. The tank-like Mordekaiser which this guide will focus on, and the ability power which is very risky but also very powerfull. Playing Mordekaiser means you have a great skill set for killing multiple champions at once late game. I have tried myself killing 5 players alone with all team mates dead, all it requires is this build and Morde's ultimate. So i will in this guide explain how tanky Morde is supposed to be run, and while we are at it this guide is very Noobie friendly, as most veteran players will already know how to kill morde, and how to play him well, so this is mainly for the newer Morde players.

-No good CC
-Very dependent on his ulti

So the runes are very standard tanky/caster setup. You have the magic penetration for his spells, cause you need to kill the player with your ulti on, if you do you will wreck faces with the ghost. The dodge is very standard aswell its just there because they are good. The magic ressistance runes are very importent, and is used on most tough champions, and if you are a new player hitting level 30 they are a most have. I use the Movement Speed quints because i think he needs that extra mobility. Since he has no CC or no jail free card, and at the same time he needs to be able to stick to his target, these synagizes very well with Rylai's Crystal Scepter.

Now the masteries are like this cause you wonna farm, be tough and be able to sustain in the lane all at once, and these masteries help you do just that. I would only change these if you were to play ability power Morde which would look like 9/21/0. But i preffer tank-Morde, cause he is just so crazy tough.

Now the summoner spells are up for debate i see people going with Ghost and Flash and i see some who goes with Heal and Ignite.
One thing i will tell you though, in all my experiance Ghost has always been needed, so no doubt about it if you wonna play Mordekaiser you need Ghost.
Secondly is commonly known that Ignite can be slightly OP, and it is just too good with Mordekaiser Ultimate, so i dont see a reason to pick something else over that.

So the items are there only to guide you, i do not claim that this is "the" Mordekaiser guide, however i know for a fact that this build works, and that it has won me countless matches as Mordekaiser. However if you face heavy AD or AP carries that has been fed and are causing the team problems, then it would be totally understandable to change this build in order to help you and your team deal with this foe, i will give you an example.
If a Tryndamere gets too fed a simple Thornmail wil totally destroy him.
If a Annie gets too fed a simple Banshee's Veil will make it much easier for you to get closer to her, to end her reign of fire.

Mordekaiser is an extremely good laner, he dominates any lane easily. However many new mordekaiser players make the mistake to oversee his costs for his abilities, and end up draining themselves more than the enemy does. Therefore as Mordekaiser just focus on getting last hits with auto attacks, and use the E, to harass. If you get into a tougher fight then you activate his W, and use the E that should keep you alive, and the enemy dead.

Now i prefer to play Mordekaiser as a solo character, so i will often ask for the mid lane, or the top if we have a jungler, cause the build is very expensive, and also Mordekaiser is just too good, he will wrap up easy kills and get fed. What you should do when you wonna kill your enemy laners, is try to haras them with E, and wait for your Ghost and Ignite to be Ready, and then when you feel they are low enough activate Ghost and charge them with everything.

The main problem with Mordekaiser is his lack of CC. The problem is that on an actual team he can seem useless, so what you wonna do and especially with this build is be the tank, and lead the charge, having the enemy attack you. And then when you see that one champion being low on health ( the enemy carry if you and your team are focusing right ) then blow your Ignite and Children of the Grave Combo, and then the team fight is won. That ghost alone can kill an entire team if its the enemy carry.
